UNDP was born in 1966 as a combination of two programmes:
•The Expanded Programme of Technical Assistance (EPTA) provided technical assistance to Least Developed Countries (connecting countries to knowledge for development)
•The United Nations Special Fund conducted surveys and investment analyses to help identify development projects. (connecting countries to resources)
•Contributed to development worldwide.

• UNDP Seoul Policy Centre for Global Development Partnerships.
• Began work in January 2011.
• New form of RoK / UNDP cooperation to promote global development and knowledge for poverty reduction and sustainable human development,
• Part of the UN global development and knowledge network.
The Centre:
• Is a knowledge hub for cutting edge development research, policy dialogue, publications and knowledge sharing
• Builds bridges between Korea, new development partners and developing nations and contributes to building capacity in developing countries.
• Facilitates policy dialogue for results
5 tracks:
• sharing knowledge on the Korean development experience;
• undertaking cutting edge research with partners;• facilitating and contributing to policy dialogue;• engaging in advocacy and supporting partnerships for
development; and• positioning the Centre as a hub for knowledge sharing.
All areas contribute to enhancing the capacities of developing countries and partners inside and outside of the Republic of Korea.
