We have just received a lot of new books for our library. These

include titles from the Writing Power books list, texts on residen-

tial school and books for younger readers like The Plot Chickens,

Canada all year, Why?, Diary of a Fly and A Squiggle Story—come

check them out!!

We now have a dedicated computer for students to use to search

and find their own book in our library! Classes will be coming in to learn how it works.

We also have some great new books that were given to us by The Honourable Judith Guichon,

Lieutenant Governor of BC on her recent visit to our school.

We are also showcasing our schools artistic side with two new beautiful pieces hanging in our

library? Mrs. Sotham’s class created a majestic life-sized eagle and Mrs. Smith/Wilkinson’s

class created a gorgeous mural of our local ecosystem using a variety of materials—come

check out our hands-on learning and creativity!

Library News

If you missed our last PAC meeting we had a great discussion on how some of our PAC

funds should be spent at the school, and what kind of fundraising activities we wish to

do.

We have decided to purchase a motorized screen for the gym so that videos being

shown at gym assemblies will have a much nicer viewing area. We will also be purchas-

ing some sports equipment for classrooms to use during recess/lunch.

In anticipation of the arrival and installation of our new screen, we have planned

a MOVIE NIGHT!!

Mark April 7th on your calendars and stay tuned for more information…..

Our NEXT meeting will be on Wednesday, April 12, 6:30 pm in the school library.

Lieutenant Governor of BC

On Tuesday, we were pleased to have the Lieutenant Governor of BC, Judith Guichon, visit our school.

She told us about her job, her role as the Queen’s representative in the BC Legislature and infor-

mation on our governing system, Parliament and Government

House. Several students presented their poems, writings and

posed questions to her.

She greeted each and every students personally and gave each a

book mark and our

school some new books

for our library!

Grade 4/5/6 teachers are participating in a Communicating Student Learning pilot whereby continuous, timely communication about student learning goes home in lieu of March reports.

While teachers are working hard to make all of the in-class, formative assessment visible to parents through e-folios and home packages, the students are also working hard to engage in self-re%ection and goal se&ing across the curriculum.

Parents are likewise working hard to give feedback on student work and ensure that the exchange of information goes back and forth between home and school smoothly!!
