week 8, term 3 newsletter...february 2020 week 2 term term 3 week 8 (7-11 september) purple week...
TRANSCRIPT
Last Monday, parents of our year 10 & 11 students hadthe opportunity to attend an information night onSACE and the subject options for students. Next week, subject counselling will begin as students determinetheir pathways in preparation for Year 11 or 12.Parents are encouraged to make an appointment viathe link that has been sent to them so that subjectselections can be made.
Yesterday, our students from OSHC went on anexcursion to the new playground in Morphett Vale. Asthe students were talking in OSHC, I overheard someof the Reception students expressing their excitementas it was their first excursion. It reminds us of howdifferent this year has been in so many ways. We havefaced uncertain times, not just as a school but also thebroader community. It is during these challenges thatcaring for others becomes very important, andknowing that we can be there to support one anotheris a great responsibility to embrace. The data isshowing that the events of this year have causedissues for many individuals, including our youngpeople, and they need to know that we care.
Today is R U OK? Day, and I would encourage all of usto reach out to the young people we are connectedwith, and be a supportive adult whom they know theycan turn to should they be facing challenging times.
Our Secondary School music & art students are workinghard in preparation for the Arts Showcase to be held nextweek. Please remember to book your tickets online, aswe must make sure that everyone who attends hasregistered and that we have sufficient room to sociallydistance. Thank you for working with us in this regards.
Jesus has promised to support each of us and shows usunconditional love and acceptance. At times of challengeand uncertainty, this promise provides one with a peaceand calm in spite of life’s circumstances. My prayer isthat each of us will feel this sense of peace, though theworld is not able to provide it at this point in time.
Have a great week.

SECONDARY SCHOOL SPORTS CARNIVAL
After a long time of waiting and wishing, Prescott Southern was given the go ahead to hold our Athletics Carnival (originallyplanned for term 2).
The weather was stunning, and it matched the attitude of our students and staff who attended on the day. There was acompetitive, but supportive, attitude seen throughout the day and students could be heard cheering on their house mates andfriends.
Eyre house was able to edge out Hindmarsh, who won multiple relay races at the end of the day and looked like overtaking. Flinders finished in third place. Eyre has now won the Athletics Carnival 3 years in a row. The points score is mighty close for theoverall annual champion house so it will come down to the results from our next carnival, Cross Country.
A special thank you to all staff members who helped out with the organising and running of events on the day, the SA AthleticsStadium for an amazing venue, students for their exemplary behaviour, and parents for supporting their children and respectingthe COVID restrictions. With over 26 individual records broken it was truly a day to remember.
