Principal Notes
It is so hard to believe that the end of the year is here. It feels like we just started the year. Looking at the students, I can see how much they have grown, matured and progressed in their studies this year.
I hope you have a wonderful summer vacation.
Tomorrow is our last day. We will begin our day with Mass at 8:15. We will also have our 4th quarter awards assembly at 10:30 AM in the gym and dismiss at 11:30 AM. If you are available, we would love
to have you join us.
There have been some questions on teachers for next year. I am proud to say that all our wonderful
teachers have signed contracts with Seton Catholic Schools and will be returning to St. Matthias Parish School. Also, we will have 3 classroom aides, Mrs. Cindy Naumann, Mrs. Joan Pauc and the third aide will
be hired through Seton Catholic Schools. We will also have a part-time Spanish teacher for grades 4-8.

You should have been invoiced for the 2016-2017 school year. If you plan to pay upfront, you can make

2016-2017 School Calendar
Our calendar for the 2016-2017 school year is in the mailer. It will also be posted on our website. We will
add events throughout the summer, but all school days are set. The final copy will be in our parent
handbook in August.
There are two items to note. First, we are moving from quarters to trimesters. This means there will be 3 grading periods during the year rather than four. This will help the teachers provide more instruction and
assessment during a grading period. This is a move that all Seton Catholic Schools are implementing.
We are adjusting a few of our early dismissal days. First, we will continue with our early dismissal on the
2nd Wednesday of the month, but we are adjusting the dismissal time. We will dismiss at 2:00pm on these days. This will allow for more instructional time each month. There are a few 11:30am dismissals
added during the school year. These are before holiday breaks.

FALL SPORTS REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!!!
Please visit www.stmatthiasathletics.org to sign your son/daughter up for Fall Sports (Soccer and Volleyball). All registration must be done online; electronic payment is required at the time of registration. Registration will be available online until the final day of school, June 10th. Registrations
received after 6/10/16 will be assessed a $25 late fee and will only be accepted if athletes are still needed to fill a team. We must submit our team counts to the leagues over summer; please do not wait
until fall to register your child!
Soccer: Girls & Boys, K4 – 8th grade, $25 base fee; $25 additional fee for uniform if needed (uniforms
from previous seasons may be worn)
Volleyball: Girls & Boys, 5th – 8th grade, $50 registration fee

Milwaukee Parental Choice Program (MPCP)
We are currently in a month of Open Enrollment for the MPCP, and will accept applications online through
June 20th. To qualify for the MPCP, you must reside in the city of Milwaukee and fall within the income limits listed below. You will find a link to the application on the main page of the school website,
