PARK WITH CARE… We've had some instances of Frankelites parking inconsiderately recently. Let's each do our small part to make a big difference to our neighbours. Copies of our parking advisory/map are available at the entrance.
Remember: • Park on only one side (especially along
Siglap Plain and Avenue).
• Don’t block any resident's driveway access.
• TIP: park along the other side of Frankel Ave: e.g. Frankel St, Hartley Grove,
Roseburn Ave & Dunbar Walk - all within 5 min walking distance!
• If you need a Frankel Car Decal, please indicate in the Response Form.
Thank you, Frankelites! Some 400 photos have
since been updated. If you have not given us
your photo, why not have it taken TODAY?
Our volunteer photographers are ready to
take your photo.
WHERE? Just outside the Annexe
WHEN? Immediately after both services,
for 30 mins. LAST DAY TODAY!
Bring a friend along! Invites are available at the Hall

Rest & Reflection… with our June Pulpit Messages In the month of June, we have put together a topical series to help
us “take stock”, to evaluate how we’re doing in three important
aspects of Christian living. How is our thinking and lifestyle
renewed in our pace of life, being a father, or in decision making?
How might we “rest well”, “father well” or “choose well”?

SERMON NOTES Theme: Rest to Live; Not Live to Work
Topic: “Biblical Teaching on Sabbath Rest”
Scriptures: Gen 2:1-2; Exo 20; Lev 25, Deu 5
Speaker: John Chong
A. Introduction
A rhythm of Sabbath and ministry time is a foundational discipline, a framework for all our disciplines. It is a rhythm that God
provides to human life for its care, cleansing, and opening to grace. This rhythm is not for one day or one week or one year
only. It is for life. Tilden Edward, Sabbath Time, (Upper Room Books, 1992), page 149
B Biblical Exposition ~ God Sets The Example
I God Sets The Example (Gen 1:31 – 2:3)
(1) Observations of Genesis 1:31 ~ 2:3
What is the point?
(2) Basic Understanding
(i) God Made A Holy Day, A Set Apart Day, A Holy Time:
(ii) God modeled rest
(iii) God set the pattern of creation: The rhythm of work and rest & worship
II The 4th Commandment: Keeping the Sabbath Wholly (Exo 20:8-11)
(1) The Command (Exo 20:8)
(2) The Specifications (Exo 20:9-10)
(3) The Reason (Exo 20:11; Reference Gen 2:1-3)
III Further Development of the Sabbath Concept (Lev 25)
(1) The sabbatical year (Lev 25:1-7)
(2) The year of the Jubilee (7 cycles of 7 years) - Leviticus 25:11-13
(3) The 7th day → Sabbath day → Sunday → Lord’s Day
C Closing Challenge:
“I am very busy (I am a slave).” (Deut 5:15)
Discussion Questions
1. God modeled rest as part of the creation pattern of life? Why?
2. If you agree, are you following and obeying His pattern?
3. Consider the 2 different reasons for the 4th commandment? What are the practical implications for you today?
