luke Quigley, a sopho-more with a major in phys-ics and astronomy from Rochester, was inducted into the Lycoming Col-lege chapter of Sigma Pi Sigma, the National Phys-ics Honor Society, during a ceremony on March 23.

Lycoming College is proud to announce its largest number of induct-ees since the chapter was started in 1973. About 50 percent of physics majors earn an induction into the Lycoming chapter of Sigma Pi Sigma, compared to 35 percent at the national level.

Sigma Pi Sigma honors outstanding scholarship in physics, encourages interest in physics among students at all levels and promotes an appreciation for service of its members. Founded in 1921, Sigma Pi Sigma is a member honor society of the Association of College Honor Societies and has about 75,000 past and present members, who are inducted for a lifetime.

ashley lynn hunt, daughter of bill hunt and Young mi hunt, has been named to the dean’s list for academic achievement for the fall 2015 semester at the University of Roches-ter.

Hunt is a senior major-ing in mechanical engi-neering and a graduate of Brockport High School.

To be included on the dean’s list, a student must complete 12 or more graded credits in a semes-ter with a semester GPA of at least 3.4.

Upper Iowa Univer-sity announced Kris-tina Welker of Brockport graduated with a Mas-ter/Higher Education Administration in MHEA Student Affairs Emphasis in October 2015.

Major General Patrick A. Murphy, the Adjutant General, announced the recent reenlistment of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their continuing commitment to serve community, state and nation as part of the Army National Guard.
