What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

• For our movie we needed an film company that is an independent one and not as well known. After researching I found that film companies such as paramount, and 20th century fox wouldn't realistically distribute our film. These film companies are too well known and popular and we felt that that we needed a cheaper film distributor as we are amateur film makers.

• Our teacher gave us a website www.bfi.org.uk/filmtvinfo to look at to find a film company best suited to our video. I found lots of independent film companies such as vertigo films, slingshot and momentum pictures. I found that I couldn't use momentum pictures because they are abit out of our budget range as we’re only amateur film makers and this is our first film. I then looked at slingshot. I thought that this would be better suited to our film as it is more niche and not as well known. However the problem was that after researching the film company further I found that they haven't distributed many thrillers. Next I looked at vertigo which was within our budget range and wasn't as well known and they have also distributed many thrillers/horrors. After discussing it as a group we decided to go with vertigo films because it isn't too well known like momentum and its affordable. Also it has distributed more thrillers than slingshot so we think it is best suited to our product.
