What kind of media institution might distribute your magazine and why?

What is a Media institution?

A Media institution is an established organisation that deals in the creation and distribution of advertising, entertainment and information services.

Here are some examples of Media institutions:

Development Hell

I think ‘Development Hell’ would be good for publishing a music magazine as they do not produce many music magazines. The biggest selling magazine of this media institution is MixMag. As they haven’t published a rock music magazine before, this could grab a lot of attention from the rock audience. However, a drawback to this could be that the MixMag magazine that has been published is not well known, therefore the magazine will not be noticed much. But I still reckon that Development Hell would be ideal for the publishing of my music magazine.

Bauer Media

Bauer media is well known publishing company. They have previously published many famous magazines such as “Q” “Kerrang” and “Mojo”. These are all magazines that include the rock genre, which is similar to my magazine. Due to the fact that Bauer Media is an admired publishing company and the magazines it publishes are quite popular in the marketing. There are also millions of copies sold each year.

I think that the ideal media institution for my media product would be Bauer Media, this is because they have experienced publishing many music magazines unlike Development Hell who have only published one sort of music magazine.
