STUDENT VOTE

In cooperation with CIVIX and Elections Canada, William of Orange is pleased to host the Student Vote

program. Students have a chance to mark real (well, almost real) ballots and have their votes counted

along with almost a million other Canadian students.

Our vote will take place on Thursday afternoon.

SOCCER TOURNAMENT

On Wednesday, Oct 14, the grade 6-7 class will be attending a Christian Schools soccer tournament.

Permission slips have already gone home for this tournament. Thanks to those parents who volunteered

to drive. Remember that we leave the school at 7:00 am. No, that's not a typo.

CROSS COUNTRY MEET

Hard on the heels of the EduDeo run, our grade 4-7 students are participating in a large (about a

thousand students) Christian Schools cross-country meet on Wednesday, Oct 21. A permission slip will

be sent home today.

REFORMATION DAY PLAY

The grade 6-7 class is also gearing up for their annual Reformation Day Play. This year, the subject is

William the Silent, Prince of Orange, who happens to be the great-grandfather of our own William of

Orange. The play will take place on Friday, Oct 30 at 2:30 pm in the school gym.

A SHAMELESS PLUG….

I don't tend to promote my own musical work, but I have no shame in promoting someone else's. At this

past summer's Reformed String Camp tour, we had the opportunity to play a version of Psalm 34 with

Daniel Pol in Carmen, Manitoba. He produced a beautiful CD of original solo piano music based on the

Psalms as a fundraiser for his church's piano. The piano has now been purchased, and now he is selling

the rest of the CDs for $10 each. He is currently studying with a view to attending the Canadian

Reformed Theological Seminary, so you know that the funds will be put to good use. I will place a stack

of these on the office counter for those who may be interested.

ORANGE AID

APPLE PIE FUNDRAISER

A huge thank you to all the volunteers who came out and helped peel, slice and assemble pies!

Also a big thank you to the volunteers who assisted in cleaning up afterwards!

We had orders for 280 pies but made around 400 pies, so if you would still like to buy some, they are

available in the school freezer for $7.50 each – apple crumb and apple/blackberry crumb.

MEATBALLS

Orange Aid is adding to the Freezer!

Orange Aid has boxes of mild Italian meatballs now available for purchase. Each box has 10 pounds,

that's about 320 meatballs! Cost is $49.00. They are perfect for soups, pasta, appetizers and much more.

They can be found in the freezers in the staffroom.

BIG BROTHERS

This popular fundraiser is continuing again this year! Bring your bags of

used clothing, shoes, linens, purses, etc to the school. Orange Aid receives

$2.50 per bag from Big Brothers.
