Although California is called home to many with diverse backgrounds, is it likely that immersion is noneexistent in our society. Luckily, this is not common at Central Language Academy (CLA), located in Ontario, California. (CLA) is a school that teaches dual language which dual language is a form of education in which students are taught literacy and content in two languages. The majority of dual language programs in the United States teach in English and Spanish, although increasing numbers of programs use a partner language other than Spanish, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Hawaiian, Japanese, or Korean. Dual language programs use the partner language for at least half of the instructional day in the elementary years. Dual language programs generally start in kindergarten or first grade and extend for at least five years, although many continue into middle school and high school. There is one higher education (baccalaureate and masters) program in Florida. These programs aim for bilingualism (the ability to speak fluently in two languages), bi literacy (the ability to read and write in two languages). At CLA children from various cultural backgrounds and communities come together daily with one common goal: To immerse themselves in the Spanish language. Children from grades K8 come together to not only learn the language, but to learn more about another culture. Recently, the kindergartners celebrated family cultural day in lieu of celebrating Halloween. During this celebration the children were encouraged to expose their classmates to different food, music, and traditions. The parents of these children showed support of the celebration by being present and involved. One parent performed a magic show for the students as well. The students of this kindergarten class are doing their parts to immerse language in our "diverse" society. They are learning to say yes to differences and embrace others that do no look like them... CLA not only supports tolerance of others, but promotes the benefits of language immersion. Learning more than one language not only enhances cognitive development, but it also increases multicultural understanding and global competency. One parent’s review for Central Language Academy on was 5 stars and her statement was “Fantastic Dual Imersion Language Academy, they teach Spanish and Mandarin. The Staff is great and keeps you updated on daily lessons via Twitter. My son has learned so much Spanish in just 3 months. Really recommend this school. It is on Lottery based entry and siblings get first entries. Overall, the students at CLA are being exposed to global opportunities and are truly getting the best of both worlds. Scan For Jobs!! Cultural Immersion in a California Classroom Electric vehicles are here, everyone is talking about the electric vehicles some are asking themselves how can a vehicle operate on electricity? What are they, how will they look, well almost all major car manufactures are featuring their electric vehicles at car shows and some at dealerships. We as consumers for more years than I can count have always believed that vehicles would only run if they had a battery and gasoline to run in them. Today is not the case , the consumers now have more choices in purchasing fuel efficient, green vehicles. In today’s market we have available two different types of electric vehicles, the plugin hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) which operates off of electricity and gasoline. It has typically over 300 miles of combined range using both electric and gasoline. Then, we have the battery electric vehicle (BEV) the battery electric vehicles, they are fueled 100% from the electric grid and typically have up to 100 miles or more on one charge. Southern California Edison (SCE)is the nation’s largest electric utility company in the United States and they will be helping the consumers in the preparation before they purchase their electric vehicles. Ed Kjaer, SCE director of Plug In Vehicle Readiness has 13 year experience of driving his own battery electric vehicle. There are many advantages of owning an electric vehicle just to speak of just a few advantages, energy, security, carbon reduction and air quality. Kjaer recommends that the consumer contact SCE or their local electric company to understand your options and the available information about what is needed for this new technology. Customers will need to evaluate their lifestyles and figure out how many miles they probably drive and how often they need to charge their vehicles, they will have options to select the electricity rate plan most beneficial to them. They will additionally need some electrical work completed in their homes inorder to charge and drive their electrical vehicle. In conclusion we want the customers to know that SCE has the most sustained electric vehicle program in the United States. They are one of the nation’s largest electric utility companies. They serve a population of nearly 14 million via 4.9 million customer. For more information visit SCE website www.sce.com/pev to learn more on Southern California Edison's electric vehicle program. Staying Safe Around ElectricityAt Southern California Edison (SCE), we are committed to keeping our customers safe, continually informing you about safe behavior around the hazards that electricity might present. We work hard to keep your electricity on – in a way that keeps you and our crews safe.

Electricity can be dangerous. Coming into contact with electrical wires can cause serious injury or even death. To help you stay safe, here are tips to keep and share.

• Remember to look up and look out for power lines when outdoors. Trees may fall during high winds, rain and other stormy conditions and this can damage power lines.• If you see a downed wire, call 911 right away and inform the operator if it is an electrical emergency. • Stay clear of the area and do not touch the person or any equipment involved. • Always assume that all wires are energized. • Only a qualified electrical worker knows when it’s safe to be around electrical wires.• Objects such as metallic balloons and kites can also cause power outages if not handled properly. Do not attempt to retrieve a kite, balloons, shoes or any objects tangled in power lines. Instead, call SCE at (800) 611-1911 and report the problem.

Reviewing safety tips with family, friends, neighbors and colleagues can help them stay safe. To learn more about safety around electricity, visit www.sce.com/safety.

Google Street View Comes Indoors

How Do You Use an HDTV?By Tyler MortonYou've got that wonderful newHDTV, and it's a beauty: whetherit's a plasma, LCD, LED or even 3DLED, you know you'll be in for aterrific viewing experience, but howdo you properly utilize the fullcapabilities of your TV? Here are afew ways that you can get the mostout of your HDTV.Before we begin, it should benoted that there are multiple typesof HDTV's. The optimal screenresolution for a TV will be listed aseither 720p or 1080p. This refers tothe number of vertical lines that theTV can handle at once. 1080p is stilla relatively new technology, so mostcable and satellite providers do notbroadcast in the higher definition. This means that if your TV is 720p,it will work for watching programs, but 1080p is ideal for BluRaymovies and the true gamingexperience.Gaming – you might not knowthis, but Xbox 360, Wii and

PlayStation 3 are already set up forthe full experience of highdefinition. The old red, white andyellow cables aren't needed becausefor an absolutely paltry price youcan get an HDMI cable and hook itto your TV. From here you just needto turn the game system on andexperience your gaming in true highdefinition beauty. Most video gameswill broadcast in 720p, but somebroadcast in both 720p and 1080p.You will notice a considerabledifference in clarity with 1080p, buteven a 720p game looks many timesbetter than the standard 480i.Watch with the family – mostsports, TV shows and evenprograms do broadcast in 720p highdefinition, but require a special boxto get HD signals. There may bespecial HD channels as well withyour cable or satellite programmersthat allow you to get your highdefinition channels on a differentchannel. For instance, instead of thefootball game being on channel 7,

the high definition version may bechannel 707. Watch that 50 yardpass like you're sitting in the frontrow or that slapshot at 95 mph inhigh definition just once and you'llnever go back.BluRay/DVD – get your friendstogether, dim the lights and watchyour favourite movies at home onBluRay or DVD. Those items aremade for high definition and thepicture will look sharp, clear andbeautiful. Explosions look moreawesome, actors look sexier and carchases feel so realistic you'll want topull the breaks. In conclusion, your HDTV is agreat piece of technology that willtake care of you for years to come. Ifyou treat it well, it will give youmany years of happiness. There area number of HDTV brands on themarket, but some are better thanothers. Speak to your local retailerto find out which is the right brandfor you!

The Blackberry Curve 9360 Proves TheBest Looking Blackberry Model YetBy Emma Rosher

After releasing several touchscreen modelsover the past year Blackberry have returned totheir famous Qwerty design with the new Curve9360. This stylish design is aimed at the cheaperend of the market and is likely to appeal to ayounger audience than previous Curve handsetsthanks to its attractive price and the hugelypopular BBM instant messaging system that itincorporates. We take a detailed look at thedesign of this excellent new model. The Blackberry Curve 9360 is instantlyrecognisable as an RIM design thanks to theQwerty keypad together with the attractivecurved edges that have made the Curve rangefamous over the years. Despite its traditionalappearance however the design of this modellooks far from dated. Blackberry have workedhard to make this handset the slimmest theyhave ever produced at just 11mm in depth. In aneffort to keep the cost of this phone to aminimum the chassis of the phone is constructedentirely from plastic rather than incorporatingmetallic elements that push the cost up. Thisplastic is finished in a glossy black colour rathersimilar to the Samsung Galaxy S2. An advantageto the plastic body is that the weight of the modelcan be kept to a rather impressive 99 grammeswhich is considerably lighter than many modernsmartphones.

When you take a look around this model youwill notice that the front is split equallybetween a 2.46 display and the full keypad thatoccupies the bottom half of the fascia. Thebuttons on the keypad are surprisingly wellspaced out for such a compact model and thisis because RIM have opted to use a design thatutilises four rows of keys rather than five. Thisdoes mean that numbers share a key with aletter on the top row but this does not pose aproblem in terms of operation. A number of thebuttons on the phone are also assigned as ashortcut to another area of the phone. Anexample of this is the hash key which acts as atoggle for the phones silent mode and the starkey which locks the keypad. As the BlackberryCurve 9360 does not feature a touchscreen allnavigation is performed via an opticaltrackpad. This is designed to be used witheither your thumb or your finger and is locatedbetween the screen and the keypad. Above thephones display you will find the earpiece andan LED indicator that helps alerts you toincoming calls and messages. The Blackberry Curve 9360 scores highly forits styling and manages to look like a much morepremium device than it actually is. The welldesigned Qwerty keypad is easy to use and theoptical trackpad offers a level of precision thatis sometimes lacking in many touchscreenmodels.

By Ethel MartinMillerWell, here we are in the month ofDecember and if you’re thinking the wayI’m thinking, I can’t believe that 2011will be over and 2012 will be here in lessthan 30 days. In my article this month Idecided to look back and examine how Iprogressed with some projects I hadstarted at the beginning of 2011. As Ilooked back I found myself being a littlebehind in some of my projects. I realizedthat I can not play catch up, because I donot have enough time left in 2011. So, Idecided not to beat myself up but tolearn something from this experience byasking myself what was the reasonbehind not completing some of myprojects in 2011.The first question I have asked myselfI have to write it down in black andwhite on a piece of paper. I had to writedown an explanation behind my answerand be honest with myself in myanswers. The first question was “did Ihave enough time to complete thoseprojects”? My answer was “yes” I hadplenty of time to complete most of myprojects, but my focus was lacking and Ihave to work on my time management. Most of us had projects or things thatwe wanted to accomplish in 2011, butnow we’re at the end of the year andthings are still the same. I would like to

share this little quote that my husband,Daniel always says when he is speakingand encouraging someone. He alsokeeps this little quote deep within hisown heart, "Nothing beats a try, but afailure too try".So, take time to reflect on the projectsthat you intended to complete and younow know there isn’t enough time left in2011 to complete. Write down what yourproject was and write down why youdidn’t complete it, so you will be awareof it and it won't stop you when you startthat project again in 2012. Stay positive, look forward to starting your project in2012.I also want to speak to the readers ofYes We Can Newspaper. We want tothank you for your comments of howyou have enjoyed reading our newspaperarticles and how the newspaper has beenvery informative to you. I ask you ifyou have not had the chance to supportthe local businesses that advertise andpartner with Yes We Can Newspaper, toplease start supporting them, they needyour business. If it were not for ouradvertisers we would not be able tobring Yes We Can Newspaper to yourcommunity. May God bless all of youand have a Merry Christmas and aHappy New Year.

Sample interview questions of themost common type are l istedbelow. Answers are included. Butperhaps suggestions for tai loringyour responses is a better way toput it, since specific answers areimpossible to provide. Practiceanswering these sample interviewquestions out loud to yourself orask a friend or relative to help you.

Don't feel that you have to answerright away. Interviewers know thatyou're nervous and expect you tothink a bit, so do think careful lybefore you answer. But don'thesitate too long or it'l l appear thatyou're stal l ing. Interviewers wil lask open-ended questions to seewhere you'l l go with them, so trynot to ramble while you're thinkingof a real answer.

Q.Tell me about yourself.A.This is the dreaded, classic, open-ended interview question and likelyto be among the first. I t's yourchance to introduce yourqualifications, good work habits, etc. Keep it mostly work andcareer related.

Q.Why do you want to leave yourcurrent job? (Why did you leaveyour last job?)A.Be careful with this. Avoid trashingother employers and makingstatements l ike, "I need moremoney." Instead, make genericstatements such as, "I t's a career

move."

Q.What are your strengths?A.Point out your positive attributesrelated to the job.

Q.What are your weaknesses?A.Everybody has weaknesses, butdon't spend too much time on thisone and keep it work related.Along with a minor weakness ortwo, try to point out a couple ofweaknesses that the interviewermight see as strengths, such assometimes being a little toometiculous about the quality ofyour work. (Avoid saying "I worktoo hard." I t's a predictable, common answer.) For everyweakness, offer a strength thatcompensates for it.

Q.Which adjectives would you use todescribe yourself?A.Answer with positive, work-oriented adjectives, such asconscientious, hard-working,honest and courteous, plus a briefdescription or example of whyeach fits you well .

Q.What do you know about ourcompany?A.To answer this one, research thecompany before you interview.

Q.Why do you want to work for us?

A.Same as above. Research thecompany before you interview.Avoid the predictable, such as,"Because it's a great company."Say why you think it's a greatcompany.

Q.Why should I hire you?A.Point out your positive attributesrelated to the job, and the good jobyou've done in the past. Includeany compliments you've receivedfrom management.

Q.What past accomplishments gaveyou satisfaction?A.Briefly describe one to three workprojects that made you proud orearned you pats on the back, promotions, raises, etc. Focusmore on achievement than reward.

Q.What makes you want to workhard?A.Natural ly, material rewards suchas perks, salary and benefits comeinto play. But again, focus more onachievement and the satisfactionyou derive from it.

Q.What type of work environment doyou like best?A.Tailor your answer to the job. Forexample, if in doing your job you'rerequired to lock the lab doors andwork alone, then indicate that youenjoy being a team player when

needed, but also enjoy workingindependently. I f you're required toattend regular project planning andstatus meetings, then indicate thatyou're a strong team player andlike being part of a team.

Q.Why do you want this job?A.To help you answer this andrelated questions, study the job adin advance. But a job ad alonemay not be enough, so it's okay toask questions about the job whileyou're answering. Say whatattracts you to the job. Avoid theobvious and meaningless, suchas, "I need a job."

Q.How do you handle pressure andstress?A.This is sort of a double whammy, because you're l ikely alreadystressed from the interview andthe interviewer can see if you'rehandling it well or not. Everybodyfeels stress, but the degree varies.Saying that you whine to yourshrink, kick your dog or slam downa fifth of Jack Daniels are not goodanswers. Exercising, relaxing witha good book, social izing withfriends or turning stress intoproductive energy are more alongthe l ines of the "correct" answers.

Q.Explain how you overcame amajor obstacle.A.The interviewer is l ikely looking fora particular example of yourproblem-solving skil ls and the

pride you show for solving it.

Q.Where do you see yourself five(ten or fifteen) years from now?A.Explain your career-advancementgoals that are in l ine with the jobfor which you are interviewing.Your interviewer is l ikely moreinterested in how he, she or thecompany wil l benefit from youachieving your goals than whatyou'l l get from it, but it goes handin hand to a large degree. I t's not agood idea to tel l your potential newboss that you'l l be going after hisor her job, but it's okay to mentionthat you'd l ike to earn a senior ormanagement position.

Q.What qualifies you for this job?A.Tout your skil ls, experience, education and other qualifications, especial ly those that match the jobdescription well . Avoid justregurgitating your resume. Explainwhy.

Q.Why did you choose your collegemajor?A.The interviewer is l ikely fishing tosee if you are interested in yourfield of work or just doing a job toget paid. Explain why you like it.Besides your personal interests, include some rock-sol id businessreasons that show you have visionand business sense.

By John H. ClarkIn this article I will examine 3major areas where the church oftoday is operating out of the will ofGod. These 3 areas are Christmas,Easter, and the 10 CommandmentLaws. We assume that because theholidays are well intended, andbecause Jesus is the focus of theholidays that no harm is beingdone. In reality, it does not matterwhat you believe, think, feel, practice, or what you have beentaught all your life. If it does notline up with the word of God, it’swrong, and you’re out of order. That being said, let’s examine whatis being taught, verses what thescripture says.Christmas: I challenge any onereading this article to go to youBible and find the word Christmas.I challenge you to find thescripture that instructs you to hanglights, decorate trees, buy gifts, orfor that matter, celebrate the birthof Christ. Most Christmas stories represent 3wise men coming to the manager, but there is nothing in scripturethat says there were only 3 wisemen. Matthew 2:711. The word ofthe birth of Christ was not given tothe wise men, but to theShepherds. Luke 2:1012We must realize that although themodern day Christmas story maybe warm and fuzzy, it is not factual, and it certainly is not based onscripture. Furthermore, thecommercial aspect of Christmascertainly has no place in ourChurch. When Easter is mentions in Acts12:4, it means Passover, and mostof us know how and when thePassover story begins. We knowthe story of Joseph and how thechildren of Israel came to live inEgypt. Genesis 3746:6 We knowthat the Jews dwelled in Egypt forseveral generations. Exodus12:4041. We know that when thePharaoh, with whom Joseph hadfound favor died, the new ruler ofEgypt became worried that theJews would take over his peopleand his power. To avoid this, heforced them into slavery. Exodus1:111We remember the story from ourchildhood of how, even though theEgyptians made their liveshorrible, the children of Israelthrived in Egypt. Exodus 1:12. We

remember the story Moses, how hecame to be in Egypt, how he wasraised in the house of the Pharaoh, and how he came to be face to facewith the Pharaoh to demand thatthe children of Israel be set free.Exodus 1:153:10We know that when God sentMoses to the Pharaoh to ask forthe freedom of the children ofIsrael he knew he would refuse.Exodus 7:23. Even afterwitnessing the miracles andsuffering the plagues that Godinstructed Moses to bring againstEgypt the Pharaoh would still notlet the children of Israel go. The10th and final plague was that allof the firstborn children andanimals in Egypt would die.Exodus 7:811:10Most of us know by heart the storyof how The Lord spoke to Mosesand Aaron and instructed themregarding the meal of the Passover, the blood they were to put on the 2sides of their door, and on theupper door post. We rememberthat the blood was to be a token, sothat where the blood was the Lordwould pass over that house.Hence, the name “Passover.”Exodus 12:113. We seem to get alittle foggy after that, but we mustremember that Easter has nothingto do with the resurrection.God instructed Moses to keepthe Passover Feast for a memorialfor Israel. Exodus 12:14. We mustremember that for us the Passovermeal represents Christ as thebread of life. Matthew 26:2628, ICorinthians 11:2326, because itwas a type of Christ, ourRedeemer, John 1:29, ICorinthians 5:7, I Peter 1:1819,the Passover lamb had to bewithout blemish just as Jesus waswithout blemish. John 18:38, andjust as the blood applied to thedoor post protected the children ofIsrael, the blood of Jesus is ourperfect protection. Hebrews10:1014, I John 1:7 How can we beso blinded as to allow somethingso sacred to coexist with suchfoolish as Easter eggs, the Easterbunny, and a new Easter hat? Forthose who say there is no harm; forthose who would claim that thesecelebrations are for the children, Ianswer that the manipulation, misinterpretation, or misuses ofthe word of God is in directviolation of new testament order.

Can You Handle The Truth

By C. Douglas DanielsDouglas and Rhonda met each otherand fell in love, July 29, 2006 at theirannual high school picnic. They bothattended the same High School locatedin Los Angeles, but at different times, but participated in many of the alumniactivities. Although they did not knoweach other in high school, many oftheir friends were the same orassociated with each other. The DavidStarr Jordan Annual Picnic attractedrecent grads and alumni to the outing.Douglas was the D.J. for the eventand played the oldies music for thevarious years of alumni present.

Rhonda passed by his booth andcaught his eye. He wanted to make heracquaintance, so he approached herunder the guise that she looked likeone of his classmates. After a fewmoments of casual conversation, sheconsented to taking a photo with himand left without revealing her name.He watched as she conversed withother alumni and could not take hiseyes from her. When he looked at thephoto they took together, it appearedto him that they looked like a perfectcouple who had been together foryears. This intrigued him!!As the picnickers began to leave,

Douglas decided he would find herand ask if he could exchange phonenumbers. He looked for her but hedid not see her anywhere. He ran ina panic to the parking lot to catchher before she left; however, she wasnowhere to be found. Recognizingsome ladies coming toward him aspeople she had been talking with, heasked them about her. He was toldher name was Rhonda and that theywere all good friends and schoolmates. When he asked how hecould get in touch with her, theytold him they would not give hernumber out to a stranger. He then ventured to ask her friend ifshe would give his phone number toRhonda when she saw her again andask her to call him. She agreed andpromised she would phone her andgive his number to her. Well, hewas very surprised when a weeklater, Rhonda called. They talkeddaily by phone and email andshortly decided to go out on a dateto the movies. After the first date, they were inseparable! They went todiners, beaches, birthday partiesand church affairs together for thenext four months. Douglas joinedRhonda’s church and two monthslater, at the close of worship service;he proposed to her in front of theentire church congregation.Six months afterthe unusual proposal, they weremarried in a beautiful weddingceremony August 5, 2007 at theirchurch, with family and friends inattendance. Today they live happilytogether in Apple Valley, California. They often laugh about how they metand how they almost missed the loveof their life, had it not been for a friendwho kept her promise to a stranger. That friend was a bridesmaid in theirwedding and has recently passedaway. She will always be rememberedas the person who brought themtogether.

Love At First Sight

By Wumi BadioraI was so excited two years ago when Iasked God for something and Iimmediately got the answer. So this ishow God woks! It was so evident thatthis could not have been except God.However, I became so frustrated someweeks ago for not receiving answer tosome issues that urgently need divineintervention. But is that really whathappened? But the Bible says inMatthew 7:7, "Ask, and it shall be givenyou; seek, and ye shall find; knock, andit shall be opened unto you." Is thattrue? Well, many of us can doubt theefficacy of this because we can list ourexperiences where we asked forsomething and didn't receive. But inRomans 3:4, the Bible says "Let God betrue, but every man or everycircumstance a liar." Therefore, in thiscase, God's Word is true, not ourexperiences. Thus, the Word is clearand simple in its application but whenwe tries the Word and doesn't see thepromised results, rather than admitthat we could have failed, they saysomething like, "It must not have beenGod's will." God is not the one whofailed to answer, but rather we are theones who have failed to receive.Almost all of us have hadexperiences when it didn't look like ourprayers were answered. What actuallyhappens when we ask in prayer is thatGod moves immediately and gives usthe answer in our spirits. We areresponsible for believing that, andacting accordingly to bring the answerinto the physical world. God is a spirit(John 4:24), and He always suppliesour answer to our spirit man. Through

faith, we then give physical substance(Heb. 11:1) to what God has done. Weare like a spiritual transformer.Spiritual power has to be converted tophysical power just as radio signalshave to be converted into frequenciesaudible to our physical ear. This is theway our answers to prayer come. Godmoves in the spirit world and gives usour answer by faith, and we convert itinto a physical reality through ouractions. However, that is not to say thatwe are the one who produced theanswer by our own power. It is Godwho works the miracles, but they docome through us. Without Him, we cando nothing, but He has made us jointheirs together with Christ so that Hedoes nothing without us. Ephesians3:20 says, "Now unto him that is ableto do exceeding abundantly above allthat we ask or think, according to thepower that worketh in us". We have apart to play in receiving from God.Ignorance of this has been our greatestproblem. This is why Mark 11:24 says, "Whatthings soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and yeshall have them." You receive in yourspirit by faith immediately, and it shallcome to pass in the physical later. Thetime that it takes for God's answer tobe manifest in the physical isdependent upon many things, but it isnot God who determines that. It maybe one minute, one day, or one year, but you cannot waiver in your beliefthat God has already answered yourprayer. God answers immediately. Youmust believe that you receive when youpray. God cannot be asking you to

believe something that is not true. Wedo receive instantly in your spirit, andthen it is manifest in the physical later. An example of this is in the book ofDaniel. In chapter 9, Daniel prayed aprayer, and while he was still praying, his answer to prayer came in the formof Gabriel giving him "skill andunderstanding" in the thing he desired. That's a quick answer to prayer. Inverse 23, Gabriel says that God hadsent him forth at the beginning of hisprayer. God moved instantly. In Danielchapter 10, he prayed another prayer, and his answer took three full weeks tomanifest. What a difference! Most of uswould say, "I wonder why Godanswered that first prayer in threeminutes, and the second prayer tookthree weeks. But in Daniel 10:12, wefind that God answered the secondprayer instantly too. The Lord was notthe variable. In this case, it was ademonic force, "the prince of thekingdom of Persia," that had hinderedthe answer to Daniel's prayer. Therefore, be it Satan, our wills orunbelief or any of a number of otherpossible hindrances, it's important thatyou know that it's not God who seemsso unpredictable (Ps. 102:27, Mal. 3:6).In fact, this is a fundamental truth thatyou must be established in before youcan even begin to do anything aboutspeeding up the answer to your prayer. If you have prayed a prayer in line withGod's Word, God answers itimmediately (1 John 5:1415; Dan. 9,10). If you understand that, then youare ready to begin releasing your faithover bringing that answer intocomplete manifestation.

By: Ed LathropMortgage rates have a lot to do withhow well the economy is performing. When mortgage rates go up, peoplecan no longer afford to invest moneyin new properties. This, of course, brings a slow down to the buildingtrade and it also means less moneywill be flowing through the economy. On the other hand, when mortgagerates go down, more people are ableto buy homes. The further down ratesfall, the lower the income needed tobuy homes. When homes are beingbought, the building trade flourishesand this stimulates the economy inmany ways.Remember high interest rates? It's been 20 years since we've seendoubledigit mortgage interest rates.Going back to the late '70s and early'80s, doubledigit mortgage rates werethe norm. It wasn't until about 1985after the Reagan administration hadput an end to stagflation and themisery index that haunted the Carteryears, that mortgage rates foundbuoyancy at around 7%.Since that time, mortgage rateshave fluctuated between 9% andabout 5.5%. All in all, it has been along stable interest rate environmentthat we have enjoyed over these pastyears.Higher or lower? Now, the question is where dointerest rates go from here. By readingthe charts, we will attempt to predicttheir future movement, just as if wewere reading the commodities chartsto get a handle on which way the priceof soybeans were headed. Then, we'regoing to make a prediction aboutanother commodity that is sure to beshocking! At this time, it is wise to make adisclaimer. First, no one can trulypredict the future and second, anyworld event can change what the

future looks like now in a heartbeat. Also, you can't overlook the fact theseunforeseen world events can happenout of the blue. With that behind us,let's take a look at charts. The past 18 yearsThroughout the '90s, interest rateson 30year fixed mortgages rangedbetween 9% and 7%. At the timeGeorge W. Bush took office, theaverage 30year mortgage rate was8.75 %. From here, it eased downwardsteadily through the first George W.Bush term. It actually hit a low of4.75% in late 2003. Here, interestrates ranged between 6.5% and about5.5% for the next 3 years. This was anuncommonly stable interest rateenvironment and it was one of thereasons the housing market becamered hot, and yes, overbought. In 2006, the trend broke above5.5% to about 6.5%, but rates neverwent any higher. Now, the interestrates are hovering around six percentand trending downward.Reading the chartsThe technical trader, that is, onewho trades commodities by readingcharts, would certainly believeinterest rates, since they are headingdownward, would have to once againtest the low of 4.75%. It will beimportant to see if a double bottom ismade at 4.75%. If this bottom is made, interest rates will go up.Because of underlyingfundamentals of the market, forinstance the Fed trying to lowerinterest rates to stimulate the housingmarket, it seems much more likelyinterest rates will break through the4.75% low once they arrive there. Ifthey do, a new downward trend willbe on the way. Just how much lowerinterest rates could get, is anybody'sguess. However, it certainly isn't outof the question we could see 4% 30year fixed mortgage rates sometime

before this downward trend ends.4%!Historically speaking, 4% is a very lowinterest rate, but at this time it trulylooks like we are much more apt tosee 4% than a higher number, like 7%.So, for what it's worth, this is myprediction. We will see the interestrate on a fixed 30year mortgagesomewhere down around 4% beforean inflationary aspect of the economytakes over.Where you think this inflationaryaspect will come from? Well, here isanother prediction and you may findit more astounding than the first one!The impossible dreamIt's all over for the crude oil rally.Crude oil is overbought! There is noreason for crude oil to be tradingabove $100 a barrel. Like the techstock boom of the '90s and thehousing market bubble of a coupleyears ago, it is a rally that cannot be

sustained forever! It's anybody's guess as to what thetrue market value of crude oil is rightnow. However, to think it issomewhere between $50 and $60 abarrel would be logical. However, when prices fall they tend to gothrough the true market value beforethey float back up to it.If this crude oil market bubble burstfollows the same modus operandinormal market bubble bursts follow, Ican't see why it is impossible to see$35 a barrel crude oil again; at leastfor a little while. What would this mean for the priceof gas? Maybe $1.49 a gallon? Wellthis may seem totally out of whackwith what we're hearing constantlycoming from our news reports dayand night, don't think it can't happen.Back to realityCertainly, there will be a time when

$100 will not be too high a price for abarrel of crude oil. There will come atime when $3.50 is not too much for agallon of gas. However, the charts aretelling us that time is not here yet.So, cheap gas, like the JFK, RonaldReagan and George W. Bush tax cutswill stimulate the economy, and likethe Bill Clinton Tariff agreements, itwill make the cost of living lowerwhich will make more goodsaffordable to the public. These things, though healthy for the economy, willbring on some inflation and this willbreak the interest rate downtrend.I know these predictions seempretty goofy and maybe they are! Still,my strategy is to believe they willhappen and if they don't, at least I'llbe happy believing them for now. Then again, if they do happen, we'llall be happy!

Young people are being exposed to amassive amount of marketing for sugarydrinks, such as fullcalorie soda, sportsdrinks, energy drinks, and fruit drinks, according to a new study from the Yale RuddCenter for Food Policy & Obesity. The study isthe most comprehensive and sciencebasedassessment of sugary drink nutrition andmarketing ever conducted. The data showthat companies marketing sugary drinkstarget young people, especially black andHispanic youth. Researchers from the RuddCenter will present detailed findings of thestudy on October 31 during the AmericanPublic Health Association’s Annual Meetingin Washington, D.C.The report’s authors studied marketing by14 beverage companies and examined thenutritional quality of nearly 600 productsincluding fullcalorie soda, energy drinks, fruit drinks, flavored water, sports drinks, andiced teas, as well as diet energy drinks anddiet children’s fruit drinks.“Beverage companies have pledged toimprove childdirected advertising,” said leadresearcher Jennifer Harris, director ofmarketing initiatives at the Rudd Center. “Butwe are not seeing a true decrease inmarketing exposure. Instead companies haveshifted from traditional media to newer formsthat engage youth through rewards forpurchasing sugary drinks, community events, causerelated marketing, promotions, productplacements, social media, and smartphones."Key study findings include: Companies aretargeting black and Hispanic children andteens:Black children and teens saw 80 percent to90 percent more ads compared with whiteyouth, including more than twice as many forSprite, 5hour Energy, and Vitamin Water.Gatorade also appears to target blackyouth; 38 percent of their ads featured maincharacters who were black, namely famousathletes; their website also features blackactors. From 2008 to 2010, Hispanic children saw49 percent more ads for sugary drinks and

energy drinks on Spanishlanguage TV, andHispanic teens saw 99 percent more ads.Hispanic preschoolers saw more Spanishlanguage ads for CocaCola Classic, KoolAid,7 Up, and Sunny D than older Hispanicchildren and or Hispanic teens did.The beverage ads in the analysis ofSpanishlanguage media frequently toutedthe brands’ connection with FIFA and soccer;one ad boasted that Powerade was selected tohydrate FIFA players. Onethird of beverageads in Spanishlanguage media featuredsports; the only sport featured in beverage adson Spanishlanguage media was soccer. In theanalysis of Englishlanguage media, manysports were depicted. Many fruit drinks and energy drinks haveas much added sugar and calories as fullcalorie soda: An 8ounce serving of a fullcalorie fruit drink has 110 calories and 7teaspoons of sugar – the same amount foundin an 8ounce serving of a fullcalorie soda orenergy drink.Children ages 4 to 8 should consume nomore than 15 grams of added sugar per day, according to Choosemyplate.gov and theAmerican Heart Association. Given that thereare at least 15 grams of sugar per serving intwothirds of the drinks marketed to children, these drinks contribute to excess sugarconsumption. Even 6ounce childsized drinkpouches like Capri Sun Originals have about14 grams of added sugar. Forty percent ofchildren’s fruit drinks contain artificialsweeteners.More than half of sugary drinks and energydrinks display nutrientrelated claims on theirpackages, and 64 percent feature their “allnatural” or “real” ingredients. For example,Cherry 7 Up Antioxidant highlights it is “lowsodium,” and labels on KoolAid powderspromote that they have “25% fewer caloriesthan the leading beverage.”Energy drinks are inappropriate forchildren and teens, yet they are heavilymarketed to them:The American Academy of Pediatrics saysthat highly caffeinated energy drinks “have no

place in the diet of children and adolescents.”Despite this medical advice, the companiesclearly target teens. In 2010, teens saw 18 percent more TV adsand heard 46 percent more radio ads forenergy drinks than adults did. Teens also saw20 percent more TV ads for energy drinks in2010 than they saw in 2008.Parents have no way to monitor caffeine indrinks because caffeine content is notrequired – and is often not listed – onproduct packages.Despite industry promises to stopmarketing unhealthy beverages to children:From 2008 to 2010, children’s and teens’exposure to fullcalorie soda TV ads doubled. This increase was driven by CocaCola andDr Pepper Snapple Group. Children wereexposed to 22 percent fewer ads for PepsiCosugary drink products.Marlene Schwartz, coauthor and deputydirector of the Rudd Center, said “Thebeverage industry needs to clean up theiryouthdirected products: reduce the addedsugar, take out the artificial sweeteners, andstop marketing products high in caffeine andsugar to young people. We also need thenutrition facts, including caffeine content, forall beverages, especially energy drinks.”“Our results clearly show that the beverageindustry’s selfregulatory pledges are notworking,” concluded coauthor KellyBrownell, director and cofounder of theRudd Center. “Children are seeing more, notless marketing, for drinks that increase therisk for serious diseases. If the beveragecompanies want to be considered publichealth partners, they need to do better.”Researchers measured youth exposure tomarketing and advertising messages from allbeverage companies by using syndicated datafrom The Nielsen Company, comScore, Inc.,and Arbitron Inc. When this information wasunavailable, independent studies wereimplemented, along with content analysesand audits inside stores. The report was supported by grants fromthe Robert Wood Johnson Foundation andthe Rudd Foundation. The full report and toolsfor consumers and researchers areavailable atwww.sugarydrinkfacts.org. Southern California Edison Asks Customers to Take10 Minutes to Stay Safe This Holiday SeasonBy Amanda JacksonMy parent first knew something was wrong with mewhen I was 3 months old. I was constantly in pain, constantly crying. They thought I had rheumatic fever orpolio. The townspeople would come over and sit by mybed and pray. After seeing local doctors, I was diagnosedwith sickle cell anemia when I was 6. It’s a disease thatmakes your red blood cells grow in a crescent moonshape, which means they can block blood vessels andstop oxygen from getting to the cells. That causes painand anemia, and can hurt your muscles, joints, bonesand organs. They told my mother is was a fatal disease (eventhough, as I later learned, it’s not and treatment isavailable), and that I would only live to be 10. Mymother just said, “Lord, let my little girl live.” It was verychallenging for my parents. They had other children theyalso had to take care of. (Eventually) 16 childrenaltogether.)When I had an attack, what we call a crisis, the painwas so intense my arms and legs would draw up. Theycouldn't stretch and every thing was hurting. I had crisesabout every three months; I could stay home on bed restbut if the pain was too much, my parents would take meto the hospital so I could get painkillers.I did not want to be in the hospital, but I saw it assomething I had to do to get back to school. As I gotolder, the attacks happened less often, maybe once ayear. But my mother raised me to be normal, not to say,“Oh, I have this condition” or “I’m sick”. Still, I did not goto college. I was tired of school, tired of being absent.Instead, I went to work at Baxter Laboratory, whichwas in our town. They were so good to me. When I hadto go to the hospital, they would drive me and send meflowers. And then I ended up getting married, moving toChicago, and having two children despite the fact that mydoctor said I could never get pregnant. I just alwaysprayed that I would be blessed with having a normal lifeand I did.Today, I’m 61, have seven grandchildren, and my ownchildren are 34 and 36. They carry the gene for sickle cellanemia, but don’t have the disease. I still have crisesabout three or four times a year, but I watch my diet, Idon’t eat a lot of meat or sugar. I try not to overdothings. If I get too tired or anxious, I have a crisis. It’slike tiptoeing around a monster and not wanting to alertit. But I’m pretty active; I walk a lot. I lead women’sretreats and conventions for churches. I talk a lot toteens with sickle cell. I try to inspire them to have a life.I tell them not to worry about what they’ve missed, justlook for what’s coming next. I myself never gave up. Ihad no selfpity.

By Mona JohnsonPersonal BestMany people fail to keep upwith the basic everyday goodmanners of social and businessbehaviors, which are essential ifnot more important thanclassroom training. Have youever been in a situation where abrief moment of panic over tookyour selfconfidence? People arevery watchful to ensure that theyattend the correct job trainings.Individuals labor over enrollingin the appropriate classes, seminars, workshops andtrainings for upward mobility atwork.Workers tend to become moreisolated from each other due totelecommuting and computersthat keep workers in their officesand away from meetings andlunchroom breaks with coworkers. Social and businessbehaviors (etiquette) are thesilent essentials for upwardmobility in all businessprofessions. Emily Post, anauthority on how to behave

Our speech, manners, dress and householdgoods and even our friendsareevidence of the propriety of ourtaste…”How many people have beenembarrassed to learn, after thefact, that ‘ladies first’ does notapply to a crowded elevator? Not just men but anyonestanding at the entrance of atightly packed elevator shouldstep out of the elevator allowingthose in the rear of the elevatorto exit with grace. Inland Empire Group Help Local Families Receive Clothing And ToysBy Christie Acevedo

By: Amy NuttThere seems to be a lot of controversygoing around lately about whether ornot a sauna will help you to burncalories and lose weight. Some peoplethink that the whole thing is just a

myth, and some people swear by it.A lot of the sauna manufacturingcompanies will tell you that saunasdefinitely help you lose weight andcalories, but this information is not as

believable coming from someone whowants to sell you their sauna! Some ofthese companies' websites even have socalled "doctors" who will answer anyquestions you may have about theirsaunas, but these people are employed

by the company, and are still justtrying to sell you their sauna.Sitting inside of a hot sauna for anyperiod of time will make you sweat.Sweating releases fluid from your body. The longer you sweat, the more fluidyou will lose, and this fluid loss is reallythe only weight loss that you see fromsauna use. Once you are done with thesauna for the day, it is highlyrecommended that you drink lots ofwater after you've cooled off. Thisbasically puts the lost fluid right backinside of your body. Many sauna companies boldly statethat just twenty or thirty minutesinside of their sauna will burnanywhere from three hundred to onethousand calories. This is simply notpossible. People are always looking foran easier way to burn calories thanexercise, but exercise is the onlyefficient way to really get rid ofcalories. Sitting in a sauna for thirtyminutes may burn up to three hundredcalories, but this type of calorie burnwill not have the same effect on yourbody as the calories burned duringexercise.Calories burnt off while sitting in a

sauna are just calories burnt. There isno muscle building, no fat shedding,no after burn (VERY important!) andno muscle strengthening or toning. When you choose to burn caloriesthrough exercise, you not only burnmore calories, but you also build andtone your muscle, and you get rid ofthe excess fat on your body. If youchoose the right kinds of aerobicsexercises, you will also get the addedbenefit of after burn. After burn is whatthe body does after you have finishedexercising. After burn can burncalories up to fourteen hours after youhave stopped exercising. If the onlyreason you are using a sauna is to loseweight, there are much better thingsyou can be doing to achieve your goal.Saunas are great for all kinds of otherthings though, and they can even helpyou to feel better about yourself. Theywill improve your skin, your health andyour body. If they are used properlyand safely, saunas will do a lot for you.I suggest using one at least two orthree times a week, and I alsorecommend a good, weekly exerciseroutine for those who want to loseweight.

Does A Sauna Really Help You Burn Calories Or Is It A Myth?
