Rustenburg – Care Bear Rustenburg is hosting a ‘High-Tea for Ladies’ event in order to raise funds for their ‘Kids on the Block’ school outreach programme. This exclusive and highly anticipated fundraiser will take place on 22 Sep- tember 2016 at the Casa Bella Guest- house, R24. “We are very honoured to announce that well-known motivational speaker Gretha Wiid, and well-known psychologist and President of the Rotary Club in Rustenburg, Dr Amanda Agath- agelou, will be guest speakers for this event,” Gys van Zyl, Manager and Co- Founder of Care Bear Clinic for Abused Children, said. Anchen, a young and very talented singer will colour the event with beauti- ful music. Tickets are available at R250 per person or R2000 per group (table of ten). The tickets will be available at Pen en Ink (Rustenburg Square), as well as at the Care Bear Clinic offices (c/o Von Wielligh and Church street) on workdays before 13h00. The Care Bear Clinic (CBC) is a soci- ety in which ‘there is hope and healing’. “When children are abused, we want to provide efficient and multi-disciplinary professional services to effectively pro- mote their healing and stop any further abuse,” Van Zyl said. The Care Bear Clinic for Abused Chil- dren is a non-governmental and non- profit organization, NPO 149-141, and aim to bring hope to the community of Rustenburg through various projects. The nature and scope of the services rendered by the CBC revolves around: Forensic, socio-emotional and psy- chological assessment services; Victim support services; Court support and preparation ser- vices; and “Kids on the block” school outreach, community training and education. The ‘kids on the block’ school outreach prevention programme aims to provide a holistic approach to the prevention of sexual abuse. The programme, present- ed very sensitive, teaches children about private body parts and that NO one is al- lowed to touch it. “When this programme is presented to children, it is of the ut- most importance that it flows from sound knowledge of sexual abuse – and the dy- namics of abuse and grooming – thereby refraining from burdening children with guilt by teaching them to say NO and run away,” Van Zyl stated. This program will inform educators and children of issues surrounding child abuse, child sexual abuse and safety of children.
