Luther College at the University of Regina is a federated college at the University of Regina (U of R) that offers students an academic home in the Faculties of Arts, Fine Arts and Science. Luther also provides excellent preparation for students entering pre-professional programs, such as medicine and law, or other faculties at the U of R. Like the other federated colleges on campus – Campion College and First Nations University of Canada – Luther is one entry point to the U of R. What does this mean for you? • As a Luther student, you are a dual

citizen of both Luther College and the University of Regina. You get to enjoy all the benefits of being a U of R student plus the advantages of registering through Luther.

• You pay the same tuition as any other federated college or U of R student. You have access to the same U of R classes, scholarships and student services. When you complete your studies, you obtain a U of R degree with a Luther College designation.

• You get to enjoy the advantages

of Luther citizenship, such as: • becoming part of a close-knit,

caring and energetic community of faculty, staff and fellow students,

• having Luther’s integrated student services at your fingertips,

• receiving academic advising from Luther’s experts in academic program design,

• being eligible for Luther scholarships,

• getting to know Luther’s approachable, friendly and knowledgeable faculty and staff, and

• benefiting from Luther’s focus on the whole person and reputation for excellent teaching.

• Luther welcomes students of all faiths, creeds, sexual orientations, beliefs and backgrounds. The College upholds a liberal, progressive Christianity as expressed in the Lutheran heritage of excellence in scholarship, freedom of inquiry, and a faithful seeking after truth. We support students of all backgrounds in their explorations of spirituality, faith, justice and learning.

Luther is known across campus as a welcoming place, a place where students receive the instruction, guidance and support necessary to thrive and become stronger students, more well-rounded people, and better global citizens. Welcome to Luther.

You do not have to be a registered Luther student in order to benefit from Luther’s inspiring academic opportunities. Luther encourages all U of R, Campion and First Nations University of Canada students to register in Luther courses and experience Luther’s classroom innovations.

Interested in learning about the his-tory of medicine? Or feminism and activism? How about psychology and film, or musicology? Perhaps prairie ecosystems, sustainability, or applied mathematics are more your style. Wherever your interests lie, look to Luther for relevant and innovative courses in arts, science and fine arts disciplines.

Luther College features a bright, spacious library and unique collection of books, journals, reference materials and electronic resources available to all U of R students, as well as computers, printers and photocopy machines. The library is a favourite space for students looking for a comfortable, quiet and convenient place to study, or for those needing research assistance from a knowledge-able member of the library staff. Hungry after all that research? Luther is also the only place on campus with a full-service cafeteria, where second helpings don’t cost extra! The Luther cafeteria offers variety, flexibility and healthy options at affordable prices. If a quick bite on the fly is all you need, swing by the Luther Lynk Coffee Stop, conveniently located next to the first-floor student lounge.

A closer look: Luther’s Interdisciplinary Studies program Luther offers the ever-popular Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS) Program, which consists of several courses examining the theme of global citizenship. In the IDS courses, students explore historical and contemporary issues from a number of disciplinary perspectives, enjoy lectures taught by a team of specialists, and complete part of their course work as “service learning” located outside of the classroom. www.luthercollege.edu/university/whatcanistudy

At Luther, we believe that becoming involved is part of the student experience. That’s why we offer you many ways to “plug in,” explore your interests, and have fun. The Luther University Students’ Association (LUSA) organises dances, cabarets and other social activities for Luther students. The LUSA executive also represents student interests on many Luther and U of R committees, which deal with matters ranging from student life to long-range planning and governance.

Luther hosts many events on campus designed to promote social awareness and student engagement in issues important in the world today. Past events have included fair trade fairs and fundraising events. These kinds of student activities give you the opportunity to socialise and, at the same time, make a difference.

You also have the option of partici-pating in the chaplaincy program at Luther, which organises activities that provide students with a venue in which to explore matters of faith, ethics and social justice. Luther’s chaplain, along with a group of student peer chaplains, offers weekly worship services as well as personal spiritual guidance.

Over the years, the College has hosted or sponsored conferences on topics ranging from missing and murdered indigenous women to art, literature and culture in the eighteenth century. Such events provide you with oppor-tunities to volunteer as a conference organiser, submit a paper for presenta-tion, or attend the events and learn from fellow students and faculty. If intellectual challenge is what you seek, then Luther is the place for you! We provide numerous opportunities for you to attend lectures, such as the annual Luther Lecture and the co-sponsored Forward Together Lecture. These events attract inter-nationally renowned thinkers and speakers from around the globe. Past lecturers have addressed issues of sustainability, prairie ecology, Muslim-Christian relations, human rights, and feminism.
