Later in January there will be three messages dealing with finances as part of our Sleeping Sheep series. I am going to share some ideas that will enable you to be more prosperous financially in 2012 than you were in 2011. Then in February we will have four messages we are calling the Discover Series. A New Day at Brushy Creek

2012 is going to be our best year yet! I believe that and am going to do all in my power to

make it a reality. On December 13, our staff met for four hours with a number of lay people

from Brushy Creek to talk about what we might do to see more growth in every phase of

church life in the coming year. They gave us some really great ideas.

We need for the Holy Spirit to breathe life into our congregation and give us a burden and

vision for the people of our community. Would you pray to that end?

We are working to develop worship services that will speak to the needs of the people of our

area. In January we are celebrating three years of Celebrate Recovery. It would be a great time

to invite a friend who struggles with destructive habits to come and discover that help is avail-

able for those who desire it. Later in January there will be three messages dealing with finances

as part of our Sleeping Sheep series. I am going to share some ideas that will enable you to be

more prosperous financially in 2012 than you were in 2011. Then in February we will have four

messages we are calling the Discover Series. This would be a great time to invite a friend who is

either lost or unchurched to come and visit. Together, we can reach our friends and neighbors.

Would you help us by bringing at least one friend a month?

attention: middle and high school students! It’s hard to believe another year has come and gone, but praise the Lord for a new year! 2012 is going to be better than ever and what better way to kick it off with some of our students sharing their “God story” of how the Lord has used The Landing (CR for Youth) to help them overcome their struggles. January 8 is going to be an incredible service that you do not want to miss! As if the start of the year couldn’t get better, we leave for Chillipepper January 20! Middle schoolers, this is your last chance to register, because registration closes January 8.

Benji and I are excited to start a new year in ministry to students. Make sure that you pick up both middle and high school 2012 activity cards this week at church to hang on your fridge! We believe that the Lord is going to do great things in the lives of students this year, so mark your calendars and STAY INVOLVED! Keep up with BCBC youth minis-tries on facebook and Twitter. This year is going to be AWESOME!

Do you need HELP, HOPE, or HEALING? It’s FREE every Monday night at The Landing!

celebrate recovery® day is comingMy favorite part of Celebrate Recovery is the testimonies. I love testi-monies! Many of you have expressed the same to me. So you know what’s coming!

This year’s celebration will be new and somewhat different. There will be drama – organized that is. There will be the announcement of two new CR Open Share Groups dealing with eating issues – compul-sive over/under eating. And there will be a very special closing to both services.

Please make it a point to be at Brushy Creek on January 8, and let’s all prayerfully consider someone we might invite to come with us...someone who could benefit from the Celebrate Recovery ministry. I promise that you and they will receive a blessing.

‘Tis the Season for ResolutionsWhether you’re a resolution person or not, my guess is this month you will, at the very least, have a thought about what you would like 2012 to look like. Do you want to lose weight? Be a better parent? Read your Bible more? Accomplish a goal? January always has the feel of a fresh start with a clean slate sitting right in front of us. It seems to call out to each of us to start over and refocus.

The problem with resolutions, though, is that by February, we’re done. It’s too cold to exercise. The kids are cooped up inside, driving you crazy. You’ve made it to Leviticus in the Bible – really, a law about mildew? And that goal you’d planned to reach: it wasn’t that great anyway.

So how do we make changes that will stick? I know for me I need accountability and a routine that incorporates my goal without getting into a rut. Anytime I’ve accomplished something long-term, that’s what it’s taken.

Here’s my challenge to you as you think about what you want to be different this year: use The Greenhouse as one of your tools to make a lasting change. We’ve got classes to help you lose weight, be a better parent, learn about the Bible, tap into your creative side, and on and on. I don’t think there’s a topic we don’t cover (and if there is, let us know so we can cover it next year!). Best of all, you’ll get into a routine of attending, but new classes start every six weeks, keeping things fresh. And I’ll bet your kids will keep you accountable regarding your attendance after they have experienced AWANA!

So check out the list of classes at BrushyCreek.org and find ones that will help you reach your goals for 2012. Make this the year you make a lasting change.

ATTENTION LADIES!Are you more than ready for a get-away weekend with the girls? We’ve got one planned that is going to be perfect! Have you ever heard of The Cove? Rev. Billy Graham opened this beautiful training center in Asheville, NC. We’ll leave Friday, February 17 and return late the next day. While there, we’ll explore our relationship with Jesus; when you’re one with him, the two of you become inseparable. We can rejoice in all things, as nothing can separate us from His love, comfort and power! The amazing Ruth McWhite will be our guest speaker. And our very own Heather Windsor will share her story of how God proved himself to her time and again during the most difficult of circumstances, one that created national headlines. You can chose from a variety of activities to fill your downtime, including a 5K walk/run, jewelry-making and shopping. (Asheville is known for its unique boutiques and antiques!) Most importantly, this is a time to relax. We’ve got everything covered...just pack your bags and let us do the heavy-lifting. This is your weekend to escape and recharge those batteries before spring kicks into full gear. Grab your besties and register at BrushyCreek.org. For more information, please contact Shelly Maynard at 864-483-3241 or [email protected] or Libby Massey at 864-292-1363 or [email protected].
