Energy Related Product Directive (ErP)
Under the regulation, new seasonal efficiency requirements and new energy labels are introduced
for air conditioning products with capacity ranges up to 12 kW.
From 1 January 2013 SEER SCOP From 1 January 2014 SEER SCOP
GWP of refrigerant > 150 3.6 3.4 GWP of refrigerant > 150 for <6kW 4.6 3.8
GWP of refrigerant ≤ 150 3.24 3.06 GWP of refrigerant ≤ 150 for <6kW 4.14 3.42
GWP of refrigerant > 150 for 6-12kW 4.3 3.8
GWP of refrigerant ≤ 150 for 6 to 12 kW 3.87 3.42
Efficiency requirements for air conditioners, except single and double ducted.
Consequences
On/off air conditioner is no longer able to be sold in EU.
The energy efficiency requirement will be reviewed every 1-2 years.
ErP on heat pump
Heat pump follows the energy efficiency regulation
of boiler, water heater and air conditioner.
Only heat pumps with an efficiency class of A+ and
better will be allowed in the market.
Energy label for a heat
pump that runs on both
35 and 55 degrees.
Mandatory from 2015.
Seasonal space heating
energy efficiency classes
Seasonal space heating
energy efficiency, %
A+++ >175%
A++ 150 - 175%
A+ 123 – 150%
Seasonal space heating efficiency classes of low-
temp heat pumps and heat pump space heaters for
low-temp application.
The following energy efficiency rating requirements
are extracted from the boiler relation.
