Winona Health president/CEO is chairof American Hospital Section for Smallor Rural HospitalsAfter being selected to serve as chair-elect in 2016,

Rachelle Schultz, president andchief executive officer (CEO) ofWinona Health, will begin servingas chair of the governing council forthe American Hospital Association’s(AHA) Section for Small or RuralHospitals in 2017.

“Rural healthcare is the backboneof our country’s healthcare system,”said Schultz. “Those of us who havechosen smaller communities to live,work and raise our families need

viable healthcare services. The members of the Small andRural Hospitals governing council are strong advocates forrural healthcare, and I was very pleased to be asked to chairthis committee whose mission I deeply believe in.”

The AHA’s Section for Small or Rural Hospitals providesrepresentation, advocacy and educational opportunities tohelp the nation’s small or rural hospitals better serve the healthneeds of patients and communities. The 18-member governingcouncil represents small or rural hospitals in the AHA’s policyprocess and member services initiatives. In addition, thecouncil advises the AHA on federal policy issues.
