We invite your membership - you are eligible if you are a graduate of any university in the world.

The Graduate Union offers advertising

opportunities in-house, in publications that have a worldwide readership, on the Graduate Union

website and through our social media channels.

In House IntroductionExtending from 210 to 238 Leicester Street in the Graduate Precinct of The University of Melbourne, The Graduate Union consists of three main areas:

• the William Berry Wing, a row of heritage terraces with the Johnston Library and Anderson Lounge, and home to fifty graduate resident members;

• the Main Building with the Phillip Law Members’ Lounge, our quality Dining Area, two meeting and function rooms and three floors of accommodation for a further fifty resident members; and

• the Stella Langford Wing with three meeting and function rooms and a secure four storey car park, as well as ten Self-Contained Apartments.

Over the next few pages, we show In House advertising opportunities to present your product or service to the 600 residents and 25,000 meeting and function patrons we receive each year.

The people who live, learn and meet here are from all disciplines, all stages of life and all over Melbourne, Australia and the world.

PlacematsOur Placemats are positioned on the tables in our large college dining area.

From early morning to late evening, resident and non-resident members, as well as casual diners from two neighbouring universities (The University of Melbourne and RMIT University), the surrounding Carlton business district and three of the world’s best hospitals (Royal Melbourne, Royal Womens and Royal Childrens) dine regularly at The Graduate Union.

With capacity for 200 people at each sitting, our Placemats are viewed by every guest who enjoys breakfast, lunch or dinner in our establishment. The design of our Placemats is altered every two months.

Pin BoardsOur Pin Boards are in numerous locations around our college, meeting and function facilities, including in all lifts, in the resident member dining, TV and games rooms and in entrance foyers.

Each night, our College provides accommodation for up to 120 residents from a wide range of disciplines, life stages and cultures who stay for periods ranging from one night to several years. All are, or will be, leaders of society here or in other parts of the world.

Posted on each Pin Board for a month, your flyer will be viewed by residents and all visitors every day. For an additional cost, The Graduate Union will print the digital version of your flyer.

Dining Area Display PackageThe Dining Area Display Package allows for several advertisements in the Phillip Law Members’ Lounge, and the Bar and Dining Area.

Information about your product or service will be placed on our menus (including those updated daily on our website), our wine lists and a digital scrolling screen display located on the bar.

Your advertisements will thus be viewed by every patron who enters our Dining Area - that is, every time a meal is considered or a wine or coffee is ordered from the bar your business will be noticed.

Publications IntroductionThe Graduate Union has a large number of Publications which range from Posters and Flyers to multi-page and regular Newsletters and Periodicals. All are written, structured and designed in house by our Publications Team.

Posters and Flyers are placed in buildings of the Graduate Precinct bounded by Swanston, Victoria, Grattan and Elizabeth Streets, and in the two universities and associated research, health and pubic institutes.

Our Monthly Newsletter is made available in-house for all patrons to take and read, and is sent by post or email to thousands of Members who are based locally and internationally.

Over the next few pages, we show advertising opportunities to present your product or service in one or more of our Publications, all of which also are uploaded to our website.

We find our large readership to be educated and articulate, discerning and particularly appreciative of fine products and professional services, as well as being kind, inclusive and generous.

GU Collegiate Event MarketingGU Collegiate Event Marketing is our largest and most comprehensive advertisement package. Each year, the Graduate Union holds a series of Twilight Lectures, Sunday Music Concerts, Resident Meet and Greets, and Monthly Luncheons. This package gives you the opportunity to advertise alongside our promotions of these regular GU Collegiate events.

Your business will be advertised on our in house and out-going promotional material including on A3 posters, A4 handouts, A5 flyers, the event program and our website, as well as through email distributions.

Sponsorship of one GU Collegiate event or of a GU Collegiate series may be negotiated.

NewslettersOur Newsletters are received by all Members each month, uploaded to our website and made available in our entrance foyers. Each is on glossy coloured paper and, in 28 to 36 pages, includes details about upcoming GU Collegiate events, university sector news and free lectures, reviews of past events and acknowledgement of patronage (of the university, government, not-for-profit, and professional development groups that meet here).

Your advertisement will be one of three sizes: (1) whole page [A4]; (2) half page [A5 in size]; or (3) quarter page [A6 in size]. The Graduate Union determines the page and positioning of your advertisement in the newsletter.

Sponsorship of the newsletter may be negotiated.

CalendarThe Graduate Union Calendar is a once a year publication posted to our members locally, and across Australia and the world. With a different design each year, the 2014, theme is universities across the world.

The calendar is always well received, and is popular also for purchasing as a gift. It is replicated in digital format on our internet based schedules.

Your advertisement will be shown on one or more month page(s), or as a voucher for a free/discounted product or service on The Graduate Union voucher page of meal, beverage, event and accommodation freebies/discounts.

Online IntroductionThe internet has become the main source of information and media in recent years. Every person has experienced the web in one way or another, and a large percentage of the world’s population now use the internet on a daily basis, as do many of our members.

Each day we receive thousands of visits to The Graduate Union Social Media channels and Website. These visitors are seeking to join our membership association, reside at our college, have a catered meeting or function here, find out about the next GU Collegiate event or view the daily menu. Others are simply curious (possibly even a bit competitive), having heard of our Carlton gem and the unlimited potential and influence of our international collegium of graduates.

The accessibility of the internet, on mobile phones, tablets and computers makes it an excellent means of conveying your product or service to a multitude of people quickly and economically.

WebsiteOur Website is an easy means of communicating with our international Members and our reciprocal associations - that is the hundreds of similar colleges and membership associations across the world with which we have reciprocal arrangements.

The Website is updated every week to include the latest in GU Collegiate event marketing and news.

The Website Package consists of an advertisement on our homepage that is easily viewed by all who access the site.

We ask you to provide a link address (URL) as a requirement, so that every person who clicks on your advertisement is directed immediately to your website.

Social MediaThe Graduate Union has numerous accounts over a variety of social media channels. With the boom in the popularity of Social Media, and the connectivity of the internet, this method of advertising is the easiest way to access a large audience quickly.

The Graduate Union social media channels include Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Link’d in, Google+ and Youtube.

The duration of the advertisement will be as long as each of these social media channels remains active. However, it is not possible to predict how long a post will remain in any one place. This is dependent on the activity through each particular social media channel.
