    ALDINGA BAY RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION

    Dear Reader,

    ABRA News:

As you will see from the article on pp 9 & 11 work hascommenced on our new District Centre with ground work underwayfor the new library building. The Youth Centre is also in the planning stage seeking consultationon possible services and uses when they are able to expand intosome of the old library facility space. So It’s all starting to happen in that area.

There’s been quite a bit of local activity with History Month and theDeadly Fun Run taking place at Snapper Point, making good use ofour new shared path.(Check out the next one on June 5 - see p17)

Council’s plans for the continuation of the path at Silver Sands havecaused some local dissention with as many people, if not more, notwanting it than wanting it. It does seem a little like overkill with noroom on the Lower Esplanade to link it to the existing path witheven a bike lane. One wonders if that’s the best use of our rate

    money

This Issue:A bit more advertising this month so we’re up to 40 pages again. Unfortunately a few of our regular columnists have let us down sowe have no CFS, Library or Talking Health columns this month.

I hope you enjoy the issue.Kevin Hutton - President / Editor

    TENNIS ANYONE?

    Margaret Court 2016

As everyone knows, Margaret Court (nee Smith) was achampion tennis player. Sixty two grand slams (between1961 and 1974) stands as a record unparalleled by any

player in the world. But how many know how she's spenther time since those golden days?

Still playing tennis for her own enjoyment Margaret'smain passion now is to win at a different game - in the farmore difficult arena of trying to convince people thatthere really is a hell to shun and a heaven to seek.

Many would probably agree that these days people seemhell-bent in going in the wrong direction, thinking there'sno consequences. But all they have to do is Google,"experiences of heaven and hell" and there's an almostendless smorgasbord of videos and written stories fromthose who offer their own experiences as evidence.

Margaret's own encounter with the reality of the after-lifecame in 1971 whilst still the world's number one women'stennis player. Her friends, and reporters who travelledwith her were quick to notice the difference in her face.

When they asked her, "What happened?" she said, "Idon't know, but I asked Jesus into my life and heart. AndI know that if I died today I'd go to heaven." And she

would follow that up with, "It's really important. Do youwant to know Jesus and ask him into your heart?"

She might now say, "The ball is in your court!"

Annual Winter Appeal  Dear Editor,I am writing to inform you that again this winter myoffice is collecting donations of new warm socks and beanies for adults and children, and hearty non-perishable

foods such as tinned soup and baked beans which will bedelivered to local charities to help those who aredisadvantaged.

My office is also again collecting donations of animalfood and blankets (no stuffing), to help local animalshelters over the winter period.

As the days start getting colder, these items will helpthose who are most vulnerable in our community.

Australians are by nature a charitable people and I knowthat many locals here in the South may want to assist bymaking a donation. We received a great response last year

with lots of donations and thank everyone who participated.

I am hopeful that by partnering with local charities tomake my office a collection point, I can make it that biteasier for our generous community to do so.

Please do not hesitate to contact my office on 8186 2588if you have any questions.

AN ACTUAL CRAIG'S LIST PERSONALS AD

To the Guy Who Tried to Mug Me in DowntownSavannah night before last.Date: 2009-05-27, 1 :43 a.m. E.S.T.

I was the guy wearing the black Burberry jacket that youdemanded that I hand over, shortly after you pulled theknife on me and my girlfriend, threatening our lives. Youalso asked for my girlfriend's purse and earrings. I can

only hope that you somehow come across this ratherimportant message.

First, I'd like to apologise for your embarrassment; Ididn't expect you to actually crap in your pants when Idrew my pistol after you took my jacket.. The eveningwas not that cold, and I was wearing the jacket for areason.. My girlfriend had just bought me that KimberModel 1911 ..45 ACP pistol for my birthday, and we had picked up a shoulder holster for it that very evening.Obviously you agree that it is a very intimidating weaponwhen pointed at your head ... isn't it?!

I know it probably wasn't fun walking back to whereveryou'd come from with that brown sludge in your pants.I'm sure it was even worse walking bare-footed since Imade you leave your shoes, cell phone, and wallet withme. [That prevented you from calling or running to your buddies to come help mug us again].

After I called your mother or "Momma" as you had herlisted in your cell, I explained the entire episode of whatyou'd done. Then I went and filled up my gas tank as wellas those of four other people in the gas station, -- on yourcredit card. The guy with the big motor home took 150

    gallons and was extremely grateful!

I gave your shoes to a homeless guy outside Vinnie VanGo Go's, along with all the cash in your wallet. [Thatmade his day!]

I then threw your wallet into the big pink "pimp mobile"that was parked at the curb .... after I broke the windshieldand side window and keyed the entire driver's side of thecar.

Later, I called a bunch of phone sex numbers from yourcell phone. Ma Bell just now shut down the line, although

I only used the phone for a little over a day now, so what's going on with that? Earlier, I managed to get in twothreatening phone calls to the DA's office and one to theFBI, while mentioning President Obama as my possibletarget. The FBI guy seemed really intense and we had anice long chat (I guess while he traced your number etc..).

In a way, perhaps I should apologise for not killing you ... but I feel this type of retribution is a far more appropriate punishment for your threatened crime. I wish you well asyou try to sort through some of these rather immediate pressing issues, and can only hope that you have theopportunity to reflect upon, and perhaps reconsider, thecareer path you've chosen to pursue in life. Remember, next time you might not be so lucky. Have a good day!Thoughtfully yours, Alex

    And these People Vote!

While looking at a house, my brother asked the real estateagent which direction was North because, he explained,he didn't want the sun waking him up every morning. She asked, "Does the sun rise in the North?"When my brother explained that the sun rises in the East,(and has for sometime), she shook her head and said,"Oh, I don't keep up with that stuff".

She votes! I used to work in technical support for a 24/7 call centre. One day I got a call from an individual who asked whathours the call centre was open. I told him, "The number you dialled is open 24 hours a

day, 7 days a week." He responded, "Is that Eastern or Pacific time?"Wanting to end the call quickly, I said, "Uh, Pacific". He ALSO votes!I couldn't find my luggage at the airport baggage area. SoI went to the lost luggage office and told the woman therethat my bags never showed up.

She smiled and told me not to worry because she was atrained professional and I was in good hands."Now," she asked me, "has your plane arrived yet?"SHE ALSO votes!

While working at a Pizza Parlour I observed a manordering a small pizza to go.He appeared to be alone and the cook asked him if hewould like it cut into 4 pieces or 6.He thought about it for some time before responding."Just cut it into 4 pieces; I don't think I'm hungry enoughto eat 6 . . .Yep, he votes too. Now you know who elects the politicians!

Tongue In Cheek Little Gems About Marriage.

Young son: Is it true Dad, that in some parts of Africa aman doesn't know his wife until he marries her?Dad: That happens in every country, son.

Then there was a woman who said, "I never knew whatreal happiness was until I got married; and by then it wastoo late."

Marriage is the triumph of imagination over intelligence.

If you want your spouse to listen and pay strict attentionto every word you say, talk in your sleep.

You know the honeymoon is pretty much over when youstart to go out with the boys on Wednesday nights, and sodoes she.

Husband: Want a quickie?Wife: As opposed to what?

First guy: "My wife's an angel!"Second guy: "You're lucky, mine's still alive."

Women will never be equal to men until they can walk

down the street with a bald head and a beer gut, and stillthink they are attractive to the opposite sex.

The audience became mesmerised as thewatch swayed back and forth. The lightstwinkling as they were reflected from it's

gleaming surfaces. A hundred and fifty pairs of eyes followed the movements ofthe gently swaying watch. And then, suddenly, the chain broke!!!

The beautiful watch fell to the stage and burst apart on impact.

    "S**T" said Claude.

It took them three days to clean the SeniorCitizens' Centre and Claude has never been invited to entertain again!

It was entertainment night at Cereal’sSenior Citizens' Centre.

After the community sing song led byAlice at the piano it was time for theStar of the Show - Claude the Hypnotist!Claude explained that he was going to

put the whole audience into a trance."Yes, each and every one of you and allat the same time." said Claude. The excited chatter dropped to silence asClaude carefully withdrew from hiswaistcoat pocket a beautiful antique gold pocket watch and chain.

"I want you to keep your eyes on thiswatch" said Claude, holding the watchhigh for all to see. "It is a very specialand valuable watch that has been in myfamily for six generations" said Claude.

He began to swing the watch gently back and forth while quietly chanting"Watch the watch --- Watch the watch ----Watch the watch".
