Gathering Music Crossroads “Hark The Herald Angels Sing” Felix Mendelssohn *Call To Worship Pastor Woods
Jesus, the bright Morning Star, shines light in the world. By day and night he shines for all to see.
Jesus was born in the midst of injustice and poverty that the world may see the justice and richness of God.
God so loved the world that God sent Jesus, so that all who believe in him may not perish but have eternal life.
Jesus is the light of the world. Jesus is the light of our lives.
Sing to God a new song! A song of hope, joy, and peace around the world.
*Prayer of the Day Led by Worship Assistant
Let us pray. Gracious God of heaven and earth, you have thrown a
lifeline to us in our darkness—a beam of light that shines through Jesus. Though born in a manger, he is the firstborn of all creation. Though
crucified on a cross, he is the Lord of life. Fill us with the wonder and joy of his presence in the world and in our hearts. Amen.

Announcements…Welcome To Calvary!
Coffee/Tea/Cold Beverages and Cookies are available for your enjoyment in the room off the
Sanctuary area between our 8:30 and 11:00 Worship Services. There are some tables and chairs in
the Narthex if you would care to sit down and visit with your church friends.
It’s the time of year when the “business side” of Calvary starts looking towards 2016. If you are
responsible to submit an article for the annual report booklet, it MUST be in the office by 8 AM
(TOMORROW MORNING) January 4, 2016. Please write up your report and email it to the church
office. Reports will be printed January 13, 2016 for distribution on January 17 and at the meeting on the
24th. Council has decided that the Annual Meeting will be January 24, 2016 between services (instead
of the last Sunday of January) and the New Member Brunch will be moved to a yet to be
determined date in February.
ANNUAL MEETING...JANUARY 24, 2016…10:00 A.M…..SANCTUARY
One of our dear sisters DORIS BEITZEL can no longer drive to come to worship services. If you can pick
her up and bring her to church PLEASE call her at 779-4679. She lives in the Springfield Apartments on
Kenneth Road. Ellen has made us aware of this situation and Ellen has volunteered to take her home
some Sundays, but cannot pick her up due to her Sunday School and Crossroads commitments. Please, if
you are close to the area, please volunteer to bring this sweet lady to church---it doesn’t have to be every
week, she would be happy with whenever you are available.
PLEASE...check out the papers on the table in the Narthex and choose some dates that are good for
you...then sign up to lead CHILDREN’S CHURCH! It’s fun. The kids are awesome. Just keep in mind, if
you do not have active clearances on file in the church office you cannot volunteer in this area until we
have your clearances on file. (Children’s Church: take the kids downstairs to Room7A after the
children’s message, read a story, give them a children’s bulletin to color/work on, and bring them back
upstairs in time to commune with their families. That’s all there is to it!)
Attention Parents of Infants: The nursery is downstairs in Room #1, that is the classroom closest to
Main Street, across from the flower room. Please, if you change diapers in there, place the soiled
diapers in the trash cans in one of the rest rooms, do not let them in Room #1.
Outreach Project: Comfy toes!!! We are collecting new socks of all sizes and colors to distribute to those
in need. Please place your donations in the box in the coffee area. Thanks so much! Marcia Feehan
We extend an open invitation to all our congregations to join in the community blood
drive, which will be held at Salem Lutheran Church on January 20, 2016 from 4:00pm to
8:00pm. If you are interested in giving blood please contact Ellen Hostetter at 292-6559,
or Karen Deck at 741-0629 to set up your appointment time. We look forward to seeing
all our old regulars and any new folks who would like to join us.
Thank you, Cluster, Blood Drive Committee

Commemorations for this week. . . John Sunday, December 27, 2015 The son of Zebedee and brother of James, John was one of
the twelve disciples and witness to the transfiguration. Tradition has named him also the writer of the
Gospel of John, the three New Testament letters bearing his name, as well as Revelation.
Holy Innocents Monday, December 28, 2015 This day commemorates the young children killed
by Herod in Bethlehem in his jealous attempt to murder the baby Jesus, a sobering reminder of the evil
that led Christ to be born for our salvation.
Name of Jesus Friday, January 01, 2016 By Jewish law, every baby boy was circumcised and
named on the eighth day of life, so on the eighth day of Christmas the church celebrates this event in
Jesus' life. The keeping of the covenant as well as Jesus' name are signs of God's salvation given to us
through him.
J. K. Wilhelm Loehe Saturday, January 02, 2016 A nineteenth-century German Lutheran pastor,
Loehe worked to enliven the church with the eucharist at its center, from which would flow evangelism
and social ministry. He sent pastors to North America, Australia, New Guinea, Brazil, and the Ukraine.
