Mise en Scene: Jessica Ware

In Jessica Ware’s music video of Wildest Moments the artist is shown in a white room for the whole duration of the song and colour palette changed from being very dark to very bright. The contrast keeps the focus on the artist singing and the artist being the concept throughout. The make up of the artist is almost perfect… no blemishes or smudges, she looks like a doll almost. The white room emphasises the artists facial expressions and her lip movement to the lyrics of the song. There is no props or artificial lighting.

Mise en Scene: DelilahIn Delilah’s music video of Love You So there is similarities and differences between her and Jessica Ware’s music video. The Location of the artist changes into a white room but with a dark colour palette to animation images and old real-life footage, highlighting that the location continuously changing. Delilah uses codes and conventions of alternative pop in the music video with the dark colour palette and the trendy/stylish clothing. However in some scenes she is dressed extravagantly with feathers and heavy make-up to show power and dominance, also to accentuate the lyrics from the movement of her lips

Although Jessica's Music Videos content isn't a lot it has a range of different camera work. Close ups are mainly used a head and shoulder shot used to show her expressions and emotions. Over the shoulder shots are used are she is rotating the camera is looking from behind. The movement of the camera is using a tracking technique a shot where the camera follows the object which is this case is the artist herself.

The camerawork in Delilah's Music Video Love You So also varies from numerous close ups to medium shots, there is also two shots when showing the female character with a male character . The three pictures in the previous slide are an explain of the camera movement used, the camera is using a ‘crane shot’ the effect is achieved by the camera being put onto a crane that can move upward in this music video signifying the end of the track.

Editing: Jessica Ware

In Jessica’s music video the editing used is the dark colour palette it has obviously been altered so it starts of very dark you can only see the silhouette of the artists face and then throughout the music video the video gets lighter and lighter, this is a editing technique that has been used to put emphasis on the artists motions.

In this music video it is evident that the editing is face paced. In the previous slide it shows the print screens of the track point at the time of the shot this gives a clear example of how fast the shots are some only last for half a second. The is a lot of jump cuts and fast transitions.. And sped up motion of the artist singing as you can see from the blur of the image on the previous slide…
