Background

• Beginning in April 2003, following the implementation of Standard Market Design (SMD), information on Demand Response program enrollments has been included in the monthly introductory presentations made to the DRWG.

• Over time as Demand Response programs have evolved the metrics reported have been expanded and updated.

• The last major update to enrollment slides was June 1, 2010 when the reliability programs expired and the first FCM commitment period began. At that time the request was to see how much DR was available to respond if called.

• Enrolled MW were reported by location and type as a “best estimate” of how much DR might potentially respond and where the MWs were located.

• Reporting Enrolled MW allowed continuity when tracking DR over time.

• With the expiration of the remaining two Load Response programs (Real-Time Price Response and Day-Ahead Load Response) on May 31, 2012 DRWG participants have expressed interest in revisiting what metrics might be useful and relevant.

Future Monthly Metrics

• Some possibilities mentioned at the June DRWG meeting:– Settlement MWs– Net CSO

• DRWG to make additional suggestions

• ISO staff will review DRWG suggestions to see if there are any issues associated with providing requested metrics (e.g. at the time of the DRWG meeting requested data may be not be available or may be lagged by a month).

• At the next DRWG ISO will report back on availability of requested metrics and will provide some draft slides.
