“Larry the Lobster”
The lone lobster left
after Niagara Sailing’s
recent lobster broil, has
been recently seen
wandering the grounds of
LYC!
Sources say an elite group
of LYC operatives,
operating under the cover
of darkness, conducted a
search and rescue mission
to save Larry from his
certain steamy death at
the hands of Niagara
Sailing’s lobster broiling,
crustacean hating band of
chefs.
Niagara Sailing Club officials are currently
convening behind closed doors; reportedly to lay
out a plan for Larry’s return to his native
club. International hostage negotiators have made
little progress negotiating with the kidnappers
from LYC.
LYC representatives declined comment about the
identities of those involved. Officials speculate
that the best chance for Larry’s safe return may be
on August 17th at the upcoming Lobster Broil at
LYC.

A Word from our Sponsors
Commodore Rob Downs
Steak Roast, Lobster Broil, Canal Fest, Grass Island, Sunset Bay… Who has the
time for it all? For those of us fortunate enough to be LYC Members, we make time
for as much as we can. Summertime is packed with great things to do at the Club
& with our fellow members. In our busy lives it’s important to make the time to do
the things we love to do. Spending Friday evenings with your friends at the Club or
bringing your friends & family to an LYC event can vent off a lot of the pressure
that builds up inside. Going for a boat ride & a swim after a hot day makes us for-
get any heat index.
It’s easy to get caught up in our crazy schedules & the pressures of life. We all
joined LaSalle Yacht Club to get away from all that from time to time. Be sure to
make the most of your membership, sync your LYC Social Calendar with your per-
sonal calendar & plan on attending the events.
Ask about helping to plan an event, thereby meeting & spending time with your fellow members. It’s
hard to think about what happened at work while you’re decorating for a party! Stop in after work for an
icy beverage in the Club’s air conditioned Chartroom & have a laugh with the regulars. All things that we
enjoy as LYC Members that make our lives better.
“Make the most of your membership… & your life”

Many changes are happening around the LYC. The new web site is up and run-
ning. John Graves has done a great job with new features and layout, check it out
at lasalleyacht.com. The log is also looking great thanks to Julie Cook for her hard
work as she has changed things up for a new look too.
The intense summer heat is another reason to keep LYC in mind for all of your
entertaining needs. Why do the work yourself? Let Chef Dan & his staff make your
event the envy of all your friends, with out breaking a sweat or the bank. Just
contact Chef Dan to make the arrangements.
See you at the Club

On Friday July 26th we held the first "Light up the Night" event at LYC. I want to
thank the 10 or so boaters who decorated their boats with holiday lights. When the
sun went down the marina looked beautiful from the clubhouse. Everybody who
attended enjoyed the music by Jay McDonnel and it was nice to even have some
guests from Inner Harbor Yacht Club who came for dinner stay for the fun. Tony
Rogers, Tom Richardson and John Graves each received a small gift certificate as
awards for best boat lights. Again a great time was had by all.
Please keep in mind that September is just around the corner and our annual trip
to Middleport for the Red Flannel Cruise is planned for the weekend of September
13-15. Watch the chart room for sign up sheets and clothing order information.

Happy August!
Wow! We started off a little wet, but now look at us! This is perfect boating weather. Be sure to take
advantage of the sunshine and warm temperatures whenever you can!
In last month’s Griffon Log I announced that Julie Cook has taken over the Griffon Log and John
Graves is now coordinating our web site. Both are doing an outstanding job and deserve recognition
and thanks! The new website offers a great deal of information including photos of LYC events,
downloadable forms such as application for membership and boat slippage and plenty of other inter-
esting and useful information. Be sure to check out our new, updated LYC website at
www.lasalleyachtclub.com and see how good it looks!
We are getting a lot of positive responses from our membership regarding the electronic delivery of our Griffon Log that was
implemented last month. We encourage those of you who have opted to get the Griffon log by mail, to let us know if you get
an email address. The club has the potential to save approximately $3 for each log that no longer has to be color printed,
machine folded and mailed out. This will be a great savings for the club and every little bit helps!
For those of you who have come to count on a silly wrap up to my reports, I have one final thought:
If two silks worms were in a race, would it end up in a TIE……..????????
