Door decorating for Halloween!

For the month of October, theCircle of Friends traveled toAustralia. We learned all about thehistory of this fascinatingcontinent’s history: its indigenouspeople, the dubious way in whichit was initially colonized by theEuropeans, and more. We alsoexamined the current political andsocial climates of the country. Ourouting to the Alvin Wildlife Bayouwas a huge hit; it’s amazing howclose you get to these exotic

animals!

The Neighborhood Walk and RollClub, at it again!

A lovely month in theNeighborhood. After months ofextreme heat and humidity, we’vefinally been able to utilize ourgorgeous outdoor patio foractivities. The highlight of themonth was definitely ourHalloween bash: music was heard, dances were danced, costumesworn, and refreshments enjoyed. It was boo-tiful!

In Memory of ThoseWho Have Passed

Death, be not proud, thoughsome have called thee

Mighty and dreadful, fourthou are not so;

For those whom thou think’stthou dost overthrow

Die not, poor Death, nor yetcanst thou kill me.

From rest and sleep, whichbut thy picture be,

Much pleasure; then fromthee much more must flow,

And soonest our best menwith thee do go,

Rest of their bones, and soul’sdelivery.

Thou’art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,

And dost with poison, war,and sickness dwell,

And poppy’or charms canmake us sleep as well

And better than thy stroke;why swell’s thou then?

One short sleep past, we wakeeternally

And death shall be more;Death, thou shalt die.
