OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM FOR SWIM MEETS
There are two processes for Swim Meet Nominations
First Process – this is method currently being used.
Official Entry Form can be downloaded from Queensland Master Swimming website:
www.mastersswimmingqld.ord.au
Go to Information – Forms – Individual Nominations – download and save
Alternatively, where an individual nomination is attached to a Club Swim Meet Flyer this can
be used.
Complete the individual nomination form, attach and email to [email protected]
by the closing date that is in the Newsletter (usually 1 -2 weeks before official closing date)
PLEASE email confirmation that nomination fees have been paid direct to Karen or by
Direct Deposit

Second Process – you are welcome to try this and see how it goes. This is becoming the
preferred process of nominating

Log onto the MSQ website
Then go to Member Forum and Create an Account and then Log in
Will require your Masters Membership number, Club name QNB and Date of Birth as
year/month/day
Go to Options – Entry Manager- Enter a Meet – Select the Meet
Will then provide options for meals etc, meet rules (no of events etc) - tick boxes and add
times in the required format.
Select next and then confirm details
Fees and costs to be paid to the Nudgee Club Account as above to allow fees to be sent as one
payment
Will then show Status as “Awaiting Payment”
Send email to Paul via [email protected] to advise that nomination has been
completed, fees have been paid and status is “Awaiting Payment”
Paul (Club Captain) can then change the status to accepted.
Your nomination should then show Status as accepted and when received by the Meet
Officials will show Status as Confirmed

The October birthday celebrations will be held at 6pm on Sunday 25th October
at the Geebung/ Zillmere RSL Club. All welcome.
SWIMMING NEWS
2016 FEES
Bevan has reported that the fees for 2016 will remain the same as this year.
CONGATULATIONS
The Blue Fins congratulate Steve on his wonderful achievement in Chicago. Steve won the Gold Medal in both the Sprint & the Olympic Triathlons. Well done Steve – you showed them. Also Congratulations go to Colin, Tiffany, Matt & Ross on their achievements at the Down Syndrome National Swimming Championships.
Anne’s Report
Colin, Matt, Ross and Tiffany attended the 3rd Down Syndrome Swimming Championships in Sydney on the weekend 26th& 27th Sept. All swimmers did very well bringing home medals. Colin: 2 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze, 2 Age World Records and a couple of PBs. All Long course. Matt: 7 Gold LC, 1 Gold SC, 3 Age WR’s and 1 Oceania Record. Ross: 2 SC Silver, 2 SC Bronze and 6 PB’s Tiffany: 1 SC Gold and 3 PBs. We had a wonderful weekend of swimming. Saturday night we had a get together dinner in the Great Hall at Knox College. The guest speaker was Olympian Chris Fydler. He swam in the 4x100 Gold Medal Freestyle Relay team at the Sydney Olympics. He brought his Gold Medal to show us and two torches from the Sydney and Athens Olympics. Very beautiful souvenirs of the games. Cheers Anne

Good Luck to Jacqui who is walking 10km for MS
Diabetes Challenge
The 14th November has been confirmed by Simone for use of the pool and we have had the
go ahead from Masters Swimming for the Diabetes Challenge. We can swim between 2pm
and 6pm and a BBQ will follow the swimming. Details are to follow.
Aqua Cards
Aqua Cards with 11 sessions per card are due to rise in price and will cost $95
Casual swims $15
CLUB NIGHT
Club Nights with BBQ are due to commence on Wednesday 14th
October.
These mini swim meets for the Nudgee College Junior Swim Club are held one
a fortnight with the Blue Fins cooking and selling BBQ steak & salad rolls,
sausages in bread and cold drinks..
Following dates are 28th
October and 11th & 25
th November.
If you can please come along and help support these up and coming swimmers.

SOCIAL OUTINGS –
STRICTLY BALLROOM
Those Blue Fins who attended a performance of Strictly Ballroom had a wonderful day out.
Some started with a lovely meal & wine in the courtyard of QPAC before attending the show.
Directed by Baz Luhrmann the show included songs such as ’Love is in the Air’ and ‘Time
after Time’ and there was great dancing as well, especially the Spanish sequence.
The costumes were very colourful and as for the audience seats – these were covered in
sparkling material, different colours for different sections. Very impressive.
All in all a very enjoyable and happy couple of hours.

Sportspersons Lunch
This is being held on Friday 30th October at 12 noon in the Geebung RSL. Guest speakers are
Simon Black – Brisbane Lions, Erica Ropati- Frost – Olympic Weightlifter and our own Colin
Marks.
Tickets include a 3 course meal with beverages, live auctions & raffle prizes.
All proceeds donated to Aspley Special School, & Geebung Special School
Tickets are $90 or $800 a table of 10 BUT at the last meeting it was decided that the Blue
Fins book a table for 10 and pay half the cost!
This means it will cost you just $40!
Places are filling fast and one table has been filled already SO IF YOU would like to attend
