Absolution The Water of Life flows with abundance to fill us with hope, to cleanse us of our guilt, to float us to a new life. Washed in the Living Water, we are forgiven and set free to live abundant life. Thanks and praise to God. Amen.

Affirmation of Faith Apostle’s Creed We believe there is one hope, one calling, to which we are called. The hope in our lives is Jesus. There is one hope, one calling, to which we are called. The call we must answer is God’s. There is one faith, one hope, one Lord of us all. The Lord of our lives is Jesus. There is one baptism, one Father, one Mother of all. The creator who calls us is God. We are one body, one family, one church, woven by the Spirit with bonds of peace. With Christ’s children throughout all of this earth, we are one body in unity and love.

Amen.

Ed. Mary J. Scifres and B.J. Beu, The Abingdon Worship Annual, 2009, Abingdon Press Nashville.

Gloria Patri UMH 70 Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;

as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, World without end.

Amen, Amen.

Welcome, Announcements & Opening Prayer Rev. Tommy Wilkes

Voluntary Christopher Leysath, organ

Chiming of the Trinity (Please stand when chiming begins)

Call to Worship Rev. Randall Haase With patience and love, we come as one family. We are one body of Christ, united in God. Come! Speak of truth, truth told in love. We gather to listen, and to share our stories. We are God’s children, parts of Christ’s purpose. We rejoice in our gifts, and we thank God for this grace. May the Spirit weave us together with one hope and one faith, bound together in unity and love.

Processional Hymn To God Be the Glory Hymn 98 To God be the glory, great things he has done! So loved he the world that he gave us his Son,

who yielded his life an atonement for sin, and opened the life gate that all may go in.

Refrain: Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the earth hear his voice!

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the people rejoice! O come to the Father thro' Jesus the Son,

and give him the glory, great things he has done!

O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood! To ev'ry believer the promise of God; the vilest offender who truly believes,

that moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

Refrain

Great things he has taught us, great things he has done, and great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;

but purer and higher and greater will be our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

Refrain

Passing of the Peace (Congregation greets one another in the name of the Lord) Minister: The peace of the Lord be always with you People: And also with you

Prayer of Confession(inspired by Exodus 17: 1-7, John 4: 5-42) Rev. Tommy Wilkes God of Living Water, you call us to come and drink. So why do we sit here and complain that there is not enough water? You call us to strike the rocks of our world and let your Living Water flow. But we do not trust enough that the spring is there. We want to find the water on our own, using our own wisdom. You call us to share the Water of Life with the world around us. But we believe that the water is limited, not abundant and so we are tempted to save it for ourselves. For all the times we turn away from your Water, for all the times we sully the Water by misusing it, for all the times we let others go thirsty instead of offering a drink, Forgive us we pray.

...time of silent prayer...

In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid Ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand In Christ alone! Who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save Till on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again And as He stands in victory Sin's curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ No guilt in life, no fear in death This is the power of Christ in me From life's first cry to final breath Jesus commands my destiny No power of hell, no scheme of man Can ever pluck me from His hand Till He returns or calls me home Here in the power of Christ I'll stand

Breathe on me, Breath of God, fill me with life anew, that I may love what thou dost love, and do what thou wouldst do. Breathe on me, Breath of God, until my heart is pure, until with thee I will one will, to do and to endure.

Breathe on me, Breath of God, Till I am wholly thine, till all this earthly part of me glows with thy fire divine. Breathe on me, Breath of God, so shall I never die, but live with thee the perfect life of thine eternity.
