AS A DESIGNER, I WANT TO TAKE SIMPLE THINGS AND MAKE THEM AS BEAUTIFUL AS POSSIBLE.
For me, this concept is embodied in the creation of patterns. You can take simple shapes, as simple as the spaces between letters of a name, and transform them into something elaborate and exciting.
All the patterns you’ll see in my portfolio are made from different combinations of the negative shapes between letters of my name. I hope that both the patterns and the projects in my portfolio demonstrate transformation from simple to meaningful.

Bright colors, modern typography,
and Mexican-inspired patterns give Mi
Pueblito an energetic brand that modernize

THE STEINBECK COLLECTION
BOOK DESIGNThe Steinbeck Collection
is a series of classic books written by John Steinbeck:
The Pearl, East of Eden, Of Mice and Men, and The
Grapes of Wrath.
Gold accents, hand-lettered type, and a classic layout
honor the books’ heritage. Each cover features a
distinctive shape and an illustration that depicts a
symbol significant to the novel. The series is unified
through simple pattern, a subdued color palette, and
a wrap that packages the four books together.

DENISONOLYMPICSBRANDINGThe identity for the Denison, Texas Olympics is rooted in Denison’s history as a railroad town. The abstracted railroad tracks represent both Denison’s prosperous past and its optimistic view towards the future, embodied in the theme of the 2020 Olympics, “Onward.”
Interconnectedness is also symbolized in this logo and other elements through the interlocking components. This sense of unity is integral to every Olympic games and is fitting for Denison as it seeks to achieve a greater level of diversity.

RECIPEINSPIRATIONSPACKAGE DESIGNMcCormick Recipe Inspirations provide cooks with a set of spices and instructions that they can use to create a cohesive flavor or specific dish.
This project expands on that idea by creating sets of 4 spices that each embody the distinctive flavor of a specific country; India, Greece, China, or Mexico.

THE MONSTERPROJECT
ILLUSTRATIONThe Monster Project is a
collaboration between a group of illustrators
and elementary school students. Based on a 3rd grader’s original
monster drawing, I sought to bring that
creature to life in my own illustrative style.
The monster takes the form of a book cover
and pages from a pop-up book, inspired
by the student’s story for “Shoo Koo.”

Flip Side is an all-day breakfast cafe based on
the style of the 70’s.
This sit-down casual restaurant is full of cool
energy with its warm colors and distinctive
bold pattern.
Flip Side is targeted towards adults who
grew up in the 70’s as well as younger people
who embrace retro style.

SONGS OF THE CHURCH BOOK DESIGNSongs of the Church is a series of multi-lingual song books, written in four languages: Hindi, Spanish, Makua, and Kalenjin. Makua is spoken in Mozambique and Kalenjin is spoken in Kenya.
To express the unique heritage of each of these songbooks, I designed a pattern inspired by the colors and shapes frequently found in each culture.

STEPPING STONEGAME DESIGN
Stepping Stone is a combination of card game and board game; the cards that players play become part of the board and affect the rest of the game.
The object of the game is to get to the center of the board. You achieve this by
playing cards that cause you to interact with other players and move your piece forward.
For the design of the game, I chose a wide range of colors to convey fun, but kept the colors low in value and chroma to unify the
design. These primary colors are paired with a black board and silhouetted white illustration to keep the design simplified. Subtle textures in the cards and on the board, along with a handmade wooden box give the game a classic, vintage aesthetic.

YUKON RIVERBOTTLING CO.PACKAGE DESIGNYukon River is a soda company whose namesake is a river in Northern Alaska. The company’s heritage is represented through the
logo, a cross between a straw and a pickax.
A custom carrying case for the bottles features tightly set type
describing the company and their product, creating texture and giving the package a unique and modern aesthetic.

Andare is a luxury airline launched in partnership with Giorgio Armani. Catering to first class traveling business professionals, Andare offers exclusive lounges in ten international
locations, as well as aircrafts with first class service and amenities. Through each of Andare’s touchpoints, we seek to provide an unprecedented luxury experience.
