DIGITAL NATIVES AND IMMIGRANTS

Digital Natives: all those people who as children have managed to develop a very high

knowledge about the technology and that their time watching television distracts giving

proper use have access to video games and instant messaging are integral parts of their

lives.

Digital Natives. Our students of today are the "natives" of the digital language of

computers, video games and the Internet.

So what does that have to the rest of us? Those who are not born in the digital world but at

some point later in our lives, fascinated by and adopted many also most aspects of the

new technology are, and always will be compared to them, Digital

Immigrants. What are an accomplished all that learning to use technology dare from his

studies, and in times of his childhood failed to develop prior knowledge is important but

technology what The importance of the distinction is this: As Digital Immigrants learn - like

all immigrants, some better than others - to adapt to their environment, always retain, to

some degree, their "accent," that is, their foot in the past. The "digital immigrant accent"

can be seen in such things as turning to the Internet for information second rather than

first, or in reading the manual for a program rather than assuming that the program itself

will teach us to use it. Older people today are "socialized" differently from their kids, and

are now in the process of learning a new language. And a language learned later in life,

THE differentia OF DIGITAL NATIVES AND IMMIGRANTS

that digital natives are people who are already adapted to the functions of a computer

makes it easier to understand and adapt programs to more recent programs for them not

boring after spending hours at a computer pray no trouble typing a document everything is

more practical, while digital immigrants is anything but boring fingering them being on a

computer before giving use technological equipment may have to use the manual and the

lack of instruction in technological advances.

Digital immigrants also do not believe their students can learn successfully while

watching TV or listening to music, because they (the Immigrants) can not. Of course not -

did not practice this skill constantly for all their years of training. Digital Immigrants think

But due to technological advances in schools teachers receive training on the technology

that they are not incapable of affronting a situation to the digital natives Even that is not

equal because we can say that in this case the teachers do not go to much training and

have the possibility of going constantly updating every day with programs and more

advanced products. It is important to recognize that technology is a set of tools and

advanced my ability and that this is intended to awaken a better understanding and

learning digital natives because a digital native may have the ability to learn listening to

music watching a television program etc. while Digital Immigrants do not believe their

students can learn successfully while watching TV or listening to music, all this because

they find it difficult ...
