Deconstruction

By the look of this double page spread it shows that it is for the same target audience as mine which is females aged 17 – 25. I can tell this because of the

colour scheme, main image, masthead, layout, fonts and the article title.

Main Image

The main image on this double page spread takes up the whole of the left page, I like this as it catches the target audience eye, it is a model they may feel is inspiring to them. They’ve used a mid close up which is from the chest upwards, they have also used natural lighting. They have also used an innovational pose which actually highlights the models bone structure making her makeup look more appealing therefore the target audience want to read how to ‘get the look’. It is also on a pink background which immediately attracts the target audience as most girls aged 17 – 25 like the colour pink.

Layout & Colour SchemeThe layout of this DPS is quite organised, they have the main image on one side of the article, the secondary images of makeup are all on the left side of the right page, the article itself is on the right side of the page and the article title is situated on the bottom of the right page, They also have a strapline on the top right third of the right page. This to me looks very organised and not over cluttered which would appeal to an older audience. The colour scheme is black white and pink which is quite common with magazines that are aimed at a younger female audience as this is something that would attract them.

Fonts

The fonts used by this magazine are rather basic and plain, this makes it easier to read and also represents maturity otherwise the audience may not be interested in reading the magazine if it used a swirly hard to read. It also uses similar fonts throughout the page, although does change from some texts. All of the makeup is numbered and the information for the product is on the other side which means it’s an organised structure.

Masthead & Article Title

The masthead is situated in the top left third of the left page, the actual masthead itself is just “advance” however they have a new one for this section for ‘beauty’ in the magazine. I like this idea as it shows it is in every issue showing continuality throughout the different issues of this magazine.The Article’s Title is situated on the bottom of the right page, it stands out as its bigger then the rest of the text although it is the same colour you can still clearly see that this is the title of this specific article.
