A. BACKGROUND The Mission of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) is to ensure the social, economic, and political welfare of rural society, especially poor and vulnerable people, through the provision of basic services, strengthening local governance, and promoting sustainable livelihoods. MRRD accomplishes this mission through donor funded national programs in the areas of governance, infrastructure and economic growth. The Afghanistan Rural Enterprise Development Programme (AREDP) is aimed at harnessing the potential of the private sector for inclusive economic growth and sustainable job creation in rural Afghanistan over a 10-year time period. The program aims at building on the social capital gained under the National Solidarity Program (NSP) and transforming it into economic capital.

B. SUMMARY OF DUTIES A comprehensive training program for all new staff will be a cornerstone of the success of the AREDP program. Not only does the program seek to train its own employees, it will provide training to village level facilitators that are hired by the Facilitation Partners. For further facilitation of the training programs the artist is responsible to draw pictures for each situation of the content which should be illustrative and understandable to PEFs and VFs.

C. DETAILED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Support the training unit facilitation of training manuals. Sketch and draw illustration for the training manuals Make the manuals illustrative and easy enough to attract attention and make the things

understood through illustrations. Drawings should be sketched according to regions and situations, meanwhile ensure that

drawings and cartoons are subject to religious and culture respect.

Develop new ideas for better implementation of the training manuals through illustrations, visual aids, page setting, typesetting and cover designing.

Exploring colour combinations that accentuate the effectiveness of illustrations as well as the written words.

Visual and situational perception and implementation of drawing. Work to maintain close contact with CED, SME and Access to Finance units through

training manager for any needs regarding manual drawings and illustrations. Manage and ensure adequate supplies and equipment regarding visual aids to support

training programs; Consult and support training unit for necessary improvement of the manuals Assist and coordinate Training Unit activities with all other AREDP units regarding

illustrations. Preferably having skills in graphic designer. Being ready to travels and work on the site; Any other duties or tasks assigned.

D. KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

D.1 Knowledge/Experience

a. Knowledge of drawings is necessary b. Knowledge and experience of using any of the graphical programs

D.2 Qualifications/Skills

a. Baccalaureate b. Bachelor in fine arts is desirablec. Can speak & understand local language and Englishd. Excellent communication skills: speaking, writing, and listening;e. Excellent computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office packages (Word,

Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint) f. Graphical software will be desirable, in particular coral drawg. Candidates will be asked to present copies of past drawings and designs.

D.3 Abilities

a. Personal commitment to improving knowledge and skills for AREDP staff through his art and skill;

b. The ability to work with a wide range or bunch of work at a time;c. Service oriented attitude to pro-actively seek training unit related assignments from

program and field staff;d. Willingness and ability to travel in rural areas of Afghanistan.

E. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPSReports to Training Manager and accountable to the AREDP Management.
