MynameisWalt.Ivebeendrinking every day since I canremember. It was at least a 30year stint with the bottle. Drinking anddrugging were my lie. I would drink,black out, come to and do it all over

again. I seldom knew where I wasorwhatIdbeendoing.Mylie was no lie. As I lookback on what I usedto be, I see someonewho thought helooked cool but, inact, was stupid.

All those years Ihurt my wie and mykids. They never knewwhere I was or what I was

up to while I was away romthem. Crack cocaine gave me a alsesense o security. In reality, I was oneo the most insecure people onthe planet.

But I can say praise GodImnotthere any longer thanks to the BayArea Rescue Mission, my counselorsand to a riend like you. Thank you ormaking the Mission a priority on yourgiving and prayer list even when it

may be diicult or you to give.

For the first time I can talk aboutmy abuse

ImlearningmanythingsattheMission.However,themostimportantlesson is to continue to put God irstin my lie. One thing is or sure, i itwerentforalovingSaviorandHis

tender mercies I would not be whereI am today.

In the past I never had a momento peace. Today every day I experience the reedom and peaceo my Savior and Lord. As a child I was

severely abused, but it was somethingI reused to talk about. I just keptthepaininside.ButnowIm

learning to say Im a survivorand not a victim.Irealizehow much God loves meand wants the best ormy lie.

had no means to provideforus.Welivedoutour days with acombination ohomelessness andbroken hearts. I eltno one cared aboutus. Our lives wereempty.Wehadnopurpose. Then God inhis mercy directed usto the Bay Area

Rescue Mission.I love it when Brianna says howmuch she enjoys the ellowship withthe seven other amilies we live with.Itsnotalwayseasyforherorme,butwe seem to work things out. Each ous is learning to trust God with all theissues in our lives.
