<ul><li><p>FAMILY PROGRAMS</p></li><li><p>Each year the Art Gallery of South Australia stages innovative </p><p>and engaging family programs, laying the foundation for a strong </p><p>and lasting association between children and the visual arts. </p><p>These are some of the diverse programs we offer to around </p><p>40,000 school aged children who visit us each year : </p><p>The School Holiday Art &amp; Craft Program is one of the Gallerys most popular activities, giving children the freedom </p><p>to exercise their imagination while providing parents with a </p><p>high quality activity to entertain their children. These one hour </p><p>sessions, guided by expert tutors, are held daily during school </p><p>holiday periods and have previously included topics such as: Pop </p><p>Goes the Easel - Paint with animated colour and zany images and </p><p>Flower Power - Still life painting of Australian fl ora.</p><p>Eye Spy Club is our Sunday afternoon program of interactive tours where little super-sleuths can hunt for clues in works of art. </p><p>This special activity is presented twice a month by the fabulous </p><p>Eye Spy Detectives. </p><p>Family Drop-in-Days are held once a month and encourage families to enjoy the Gallery together. Children can take part </p><p>in free art and craft activities and families may visit special </p><p>exhibitions for a discounted admission price.</p><p>The Annual Family Fun Day is a great occasion when the entire Gallery is buzzing with activity. Over a thousand families </p><p>turn out each year for a fun afternoon of art and craft, family </p><p>trails, music, roving performers, face painting, sausage sizzles, </p><p>childrens displays and more. </p><p>Eyes On is the free, do-it-yourself Gallery trail for the whole family to enjoy. Each year we stage a dynamic and broad range of public programs designed for leisure, learning and for the sheer love of art. Many events are free.</p><p>The Art Gallery calendar is full of events such as: </p><p>Lunchtime Talks We hold free lunchtime talks throughout the year so visitors can feast their eyes and feed their mind. Bite-sized talks given by our Director, Curators, artists, experts and celebrities introduce visitors to new ways of looking at selected works of art. </p><p>Guided ToursThe Art Gallery Guides lead free tours of our vast collection twice daily, helping people to better understand the works on display and enhancing the visitors experience. Specialist tours are also offered for private groups and during temporary exhibitions. </p><p>Culture DaysArt is a great way for people to learn about other cultures and our Culture Days highlight regional art, music, food and customs to complement special displays and exhibitions. By offering a range of outstanding </p><p>educational programs and learning opportunities to our </p><p>thousands of visitors, we can transform an ordinary visit to the </p><p>Art Gallery into a life-changing experience. </p><p>Some of the programs provided include:</p><p>GetsmART is a special art education program for art lovers who dont have a lot of spare time. Over four Saturday mornings you can learn </p><p>about landscape painting, sculpture, still-life or print making with </p><p>illustrated lectures, walk-through tutorials and discussions. </p><p>The Spring Lecture Series, held every October, is designed to reinvigorate the mind after a long cold Winter. This series </p><p>of four stimulating lectures is presented by artists, curators and </p><p>cultural commentators, to give the audience an insight into </p><p>exhibitions, contemporary art projects, or trends in art and </p><p>culture. </p><p>Tuesday Lunchtime TalksVisitors can feed their minds when they feed their body by taking </p><p>15 minutes out of their lunch hour each week. The exhibitions program is central to the Gallerys role in extending visitors experience of art and in contributing to national and international art scholarship. Exhibitions are also a highly popular item on the Gallery program attended by around 100,000 people annually.
