it is my great pleasure to welcome you to QVC’s Autumn/Winter 2014 Fashion and Jewellery Show being held, once again, within the stunning Vinnopolis vaults in london.

i always get such a thrill every

time i take my seat at a catwalk

show - the expectation and

anticipation of what’s to come

is exhilarating. trust me, today

isn’t any different. we have some

beautiful pieces, chosen by our

stylists, which will exemplify

some of the key looks for the

season ahead that i know you

will find just as thrilling as i do. i

am often asked by friends, family

or clients who accompany me to

fashion shows how they should

choose what will work best for

them and today i would like to

share with you some of the tips i

give them.

1) Know your Shape

Get to know your shape and

dress it to its best advantage.

remember, trends are good for

keeping your fashion fresh, but,

if they don’t fit or flatter, they are

not your friend!

2) timeless trends

Go for trends that will stand the

test of time. this a/w we will

see the return of animal print

and faux fur. these have become

perennial favourites in the world

of trends and if paired with

classic silhouettes in a jacket,

coat or dress you will be able to

wear them for seasons to come.

3) Key Pieces

if you are trend-shy and are

unsure of what to go for or

uncertain what will work for

you then i suggest you pick one

key trend and work it into your

existing wardrobe.

this season you could try:

- statement coats. a decent coat

for a/w is always a smart move

and it happens to be one of the

season’s biggest trends.

- luxurious leather. if you are

going to introduce leather to

your wardrobe this season

be sure to keep this tough,

hardwearing material soft to

the touch and ultra feminine.

try hints of it on trims or cuffs

or introduce one capsule piece

like trousers, a dress or a top.

4) try something new!

each season is an opportunity to

develop your fashion palette, so

step outside your comfort zone

and have a taster of a new trend!

For example, this season jewels

were all over the catwalks, either

as large scale embellishments

or colours. why not try some

sapphire blue or jade green in

your wardrobe?

5) Accessorize with trends

sometimes with trends, it is

easier to go slowly. if you don’t

like your fashion full-on or you

want to try-before-you-buy then

i suggest you introduce your

trends via your accessories. try

winter pastels on a bib necklace

or a shoe. Perhaps the trend for

jewels and embellishment could

be on a bag, or maybe sample

some animal print on a belt or

a cuff.
