The Lord is Risen! As Christ’s disciples, we are

called to go forth and spread the good news of His

of financial help. Please prayerfully consider sup-

A Letter from Our Bishop!

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ:

With the election of Pope Francis, media inter-

est in the Catholic Church has increased dramatically.

More Catholics and non-Catholics are utilizing the social

and digital media resources to reflect on faith and to com-

municate. The weekend of May 16 and 17, we will con-

duct a special collection for The Catholic University of

America and the Catholic Communications Campaign

(CCC) which sustains and grows Catholic media activi-

ties around the globe and in the Diocese of Palm Beach.

This year as our Church celebrates the 49th World

Communications Day on May 17, Pope Francis has said

the theme for this event should center around the family-

where everyone first learns to communicate. This is most

appropriate as we prepare for the 8th World Meeting of

Families to take place in Philadelphia in September. In

our diocese, we utilize the television Mass, the Florida

Catholic newspaper, our diocesan website and electronic

newsletters to share the Gospel with our faith community.

Half of the proceeds from the CCC collection support our

local communication efforts, while the rest of the pro-

ceeds support the development and production of a wide

range of media initiatives carried out by the United States

Conference of Catholic Bishops.

The second part of our collection is for The Catholic

University of America in Washington, DC, the national

university of the Catholic Church. It is the only institution

of higher education in the United States founded by the

US Bishops and chartered by the Vatican. The university

educates clergy, religious and young lay men and women

from every geographical region of the United States.

Because of your support of the CCC and Catholic

University collections, millions of faithful will have the

opportunity to deepen their faith through media resources

and Catholic learning. Your generosity is always deeply

appreciated.

With gratitude for your continued generosity and eve-

ry prayerful wish, I am

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Reverend Gerald M. Barbarito

Bishop of Palm Beach

Thanks from the Council of Catholic Women

The members of St. Jude Council of Catholic

women would like to thank everyone for their

support and generosity over the past year.

Without the participation of the Parishioners our fund

raising efforts would not have achieved the success we

had. Please know that the charities we support are most

grateful for everything that you do.

It is with much affection that I hand over the presidency

to a very capable Christine Miller. I wish to thank eve-

ryone for their help and encouragement these last two

years. It was an honor and privilege serving as Presi-

dent.

Thank You, Mary Gunther

185. When is the infallibility of the

magisterium exercised?

Infallibility is exercised when the Roman Pontiff, in

virtue of his office as the Supreme Pastor of the

Church, or the College of Bishops, in union with the

Pope especially when joined together in an Ecumeni-

cal Council. Proclaim by a definitive act a doctrine

pertaining to faith or morals. Infallibility is also exer-

cised when the Pope and Bishops in their ordinary

Magisterium are in agreement in proposing a doctrine

as definitive. Every one of the faithful must adhere to

such teaching with the obedience of faith.

Our Lady’s Rosary Prayer Group ~ Our Blessed

Mother has always asked us to pray the Rosary to

Novena Prayer ~ May 6 ~ 14

O Mary Immaculate, the precious name of Mother of Confidence, with which we

honor you, fills our hearts to overflowing with the sweetest consolation and moves

us to hope for every blessing from you. If such a title has been given to you,

it is a sure sign that no one has recourse to you in vain.

Accept, therefore, with a mother’s love, our devout homage as we earnestly be-

seech you to be gracious to us in our every need. We pray that you will make us

live in constant union with you and your Divine Son, Jesus.

With you as our guide, we are certain that we shall walk in the right way and that

it will be our happy lot to hear you say on the last day of our life those words of comfort:

“Come, my good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord.” Amen
