TRANSCRIPT
These little shortie socks are knitted cuff-down, with a heel flap and adorned with a super easy to make feather and fan stitch pattern.
They are named after a neighborhood in Buenos Aires where I teach knitting at a women's community house. The initial profits from this pattern will be donated to this group to fund the
elements necessary to build a community kitchen. Thank you for helping us!

Round 4: (K1, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, k2tog, k2tog, s2kp, ssk, ssk, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo) twice.
Directions
CUFF
Cast on 58 (64, 70) sts. Place marker and join in the round, being careful not to twist your stitches.
Round 1: *K1, p1*, repeat from * to end of round.
Repeat round 1 11 more times.
HEEL FLAP
You can remove the marker before starting this section.
Row 1 (RS): (Sl1 pwise, k1) 13 (16, 18) times [26 (32, 36) sts worked]. Turn work
Row 2 (WS): Sl1, p25 (31, 35). Turn work.
Repeat rows 1-2 14 (16, 18) more times.

Repeat rows 3-4 until all heel sts have been used.
Now all sts have been worked. You should have 14 (20, 24) heel sts. Turn work.
GUSSET
In this section you will work the top of the foot (or front sts) in a Feather and Fan and the base of the foot will be worked in Stockinette stitch.
Set-up round: Sl1, knit to the end of the heel sts. Pick up and knit 15 (17, 19) sts along the
edge of your heel flap, reaching the front sts again. K0 (0, 1), place marker. (K1, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, k2tog, k2tog, s2kp, ssk, ssk, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo) twice. Place another marker. K0 (0, 1). Pick up and knit 15 (17, 19) sts along the other edge of your heel flap, reaching the heel sts again.
You should now have 76 (86, 96) sts on the needles. This will be the new beginning of your round. You can place a marker here, although it is not strictly necessary.
Rounds 1, 3: K to 3 sts before marker, k2tog, k1, sm, k to m, sm, k1, ssk, k to end.
Round 2: K to end of round.
Round 4: K to m, sm, (k1, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, k2tog, k2tog, s2kp, ssk, ssk, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo) twice, sm, k to end of round.
Repeat rounds 1-4 3 (4, 5) more times and then repeat rounds 1-2 once more. You should have 58 (64, 70) sts left: 32 sts on the top of the foot and 26 (32, 38) sts on the bottom.
Continue working the top of the foot in the Feather and Fan (see stitches used) and the bottom of the foot in Stockinette st until the foot measures 1¼ (1½, 2) inches; 3.5 (4, 5) cm less than your desired foot length. Remove markers on last round.
Size small: K30, pm, k to m, remove m, k to end of round, remove m, k1, pm. Reposition sts. This will be your new beginning of the round. You should have 29 sts on each section in-between markers.
Size medium: Continue to next section.
Size large: K to m, remove m, k2, pm, k to 1 st from the end of the round, pm. Reposition sts. This will be your new beginning of the round. You should have 35 sts on each section in-between markers.
TOE
Round 1: K1, ssk, k to 3 sts before m, k2tog, k1, sm, k1, ssk, k to 3 sts before m, k2tog, k1.
Round 2: K to end.
3
Repeat rounds 1-2 8 (9, 10) more times.
Using a tapestry needle, graft the 11 (12, 13) sts from the top of the sock together with the 11 (12, 13) sts from the bottom of the sock.
FINISHING
Weave in ends and block your sock, if you desire, to make the sts more even. Make the other sock to make a pair.
