On March 10, FUSIONpresents is privileged to have Bob D’Eith host the third FUSIONpresents x Roland Canada free artist development workshop at the Roland Inspiration Centre. Here’s a little bit about Bob:

Bob D'Eith has worked in the music industry for 25 years as a lawyer, musician, author and consultant. Bob was the CEO of Music BC, the trade organization for the BC music industry for 14 years. He was the co-creator of the award winning PEAK Performance Project. Bob was also the executive chair of the 2009 Vancouver JUNO Awards Host Committee.

Bob is the author of "A Career in Music: the other 12 step program". As a musician, Bob started his career in Rymes with Orange and is celebrating 20 years with the group Mythos. Bob has also been nominated for two JUNO Awards.

BC ARTIST HIGHLIGHT :BOB D’Eith From the time that Ringo Starr joined, until the band’s demise in 1970, the Beatles as we now know them, only

existed a mere 8 years and didn’t tour the last 4 of those years. They had held residency at The Cavern Club in Liverpool and played small clubs around England and in Hamburg, Germany in their early years with various line-ups.

They decided not to play in the U.S. until they had a #1 hit record there. When that happened in early 1964, the lads made their way to New York to perform on the Ed Sullivan show, before a record-breaking TV viewer audience. More appearances followed, along with tours of the U.S for the next 3 years. The Beatles would in this time also perform in many countries around the globe to ever-growing audiences. They were received well in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Canada and other countries in Europe. The Philippines proved a rough visit though, assuring that they would never play there ever again.

Their concerts always seemed a frenzied mix of their music and thousands of girls screaming that drowned out their sound. Sometimes they couldn’t even hear themselves which made touring a kind of circus atmosphere as opposed to a well-polished musical stage show. Back in those days, amplifying a theatre or stadium was not such an easy task as it may well be today. As time went on, the routine of constant performances became ever monotonous and even quite aggravating. After their last U.S. concert at Candlestick Park in San Francisco in 1966, they decided they had had enough. They would spend more productive time in the studio creating more complex sounds and would never perform live again. Except for once. In 1969 they headed up to the rooftop of the Apple building in London and woke up the neighbourhood to hear the Beatles live one more time.

In 2016, “The Beatles: Eight Days A Week” film was released documenting the years 1962 to 1966 when they were on the road, touring the world. Another good choice to add to your Beatles film collection.

THE BEATLES TOURING YEARS by D.M. White

BRUCE’S CORNERSo here we are in the dogs days of winter. Mind you spring is just around the corner and can't get here soon enough. I am so looking forward to sunshine for extended periods of time and evenings when it doesn't get dark by 7 pm. I want to play golf, ride my bike and maybe, even go hiking. I'm ready for outdoor activities. I don't ski or curl and gave up figure skating when I realized I couldn't skate.

So the question would be: what is there to do during these dark days when your winter activities are limited?

There are so many things to do. You could take a continuing education class or join a gym or maybe start doing jigsaw puzzles. Do you crochet? That's another one. I decided to watch more TV. I got a subscription with Netflix and learnt to binge watch. I got lucky with the first show I chose and thoroughly enjoyed all 6 seasons of Longmire in a weekend. And I enjoy watching sports. And of course, The Voice which I still enjoy after all these years.

I have been watching a lot of CNN. And therefore, I'm well aware of the sad state of the world. Global warming and the political fighting which always seems to be happening as everyone tries to get control. Now we have a pandemic. One guy gets up and says that we shouldn't over react while the next one tells us that the world will be forever changed as the population is wiped out.

At one time, we got our news from a newspaper. Now we have the internet. We now know that we can't believe everything that is posted. It seems it's the same now with TV. I watch in amazement as grown men get on and just lie. And just as with the internet, we tend to believe what we're being told because, like, why would they lie. Back in the eighties, John Fogerty released a great album called Centerfield. He sings about events that he saw on TV in the sixties such as the death of John Kennedy and man on the moon. The chorus has the lyrics; "I know it's true because I saw it on TV.”

So, to sum up: I want winter over with.

A debut album of Montreal-based early childhood educator Nadine Ghawi. The album is inspired by Nadine's work in an infant-toddler classroom and includes 15

Wheels on the Bus." A sibling collaboration, the album features musical arrangement and

ARTISTS WE LOVE & WORK WITH

CLASS. SOPHISTICATION. HARD ROCK. TALENT. We met Ben Dunnill backstage at the 2017 Sassy Awards in Surrey. Within

moments of him hitting the stage, we were mesmerized not only by his voice and skill as a pianist, but also as a true entertainer. Since then, The

Apartment has written multiple songs with Ben and most recently FUSIONpresents has joined Ben’s team as A&R. His songs are exquisite

and accessible, engaging and uplifting, and we believe that Ben is an artist who will successfully break many rules of the music industry and

inspire a generation.

We’re thrilled and honoured to work and play with Ben! Follow Ben on Instagram
