Body image is how a person feels about his or her physical appearance.

Self- esteem is confidence in one's own worth or abilities.

“Someone with a negative body image has a distorted view of his or her body and often feels shame and anxiety.

Almost 54% of American girls and women aged 12 to 23 years old are unhappy with their bodies.

Media (magazines,movies,celebtrities,etc.) Parents (When parents are constantly with

their appearance, it encourages their kids to feel the same way)

Other adults (Peoples comments on when the person is a toddler can have an impact on the way parents feel about their children's body in the future)

Peers (if friends make a negative comment on their body, they are more likely to have a negative body image)

◦ Social workers help people overcome problems and make their lives better. They might work with people who are homeless, sick, or having family problems. Or they might help students who are having trouble in school.◦ -The median salary is $43,120 a year◦ -Between 2008 and 2018, jobs for social workers are

expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations. Jobs working with older people will grow especially fast because there will be more people who are old and need help. Jobs helping people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol will also grow quickly. Jobs in schools will grow because there will be more students with special needs.◦ -advancement◦ Some related careers are a clergy, counselors, Probation

officers and correctional treatment specialists, Psychologists, Social and human services assistants.

The academy I chose was the Allied Health Academy. This academy is taught at ARL. They expect professional behaviors and ethnical and legal

considerations of health care are mandatory. A recommended elective to take while in this academy is biology I. Two special requirements are that you have to have a C average in

all academy coursework and you have to have a C average in math and science.

College articulation (get a B or higher in all coursework) . After completing this academy five samples of careers that you

might be eligible for are a home healthcare provider, personal trainer, social worker, physician, dentist.

2101 Hillsborough St. Raleigh, NC 27607 North Carolina State University is the biggest University in

North Carolina and has more than 33,000 students. The department/program I would like to get my

bachelors degree in is the department of social work. This department teaches you how to improve the lives of others to build a better society.

The professors and faculty teach you how to work with the families and communities that experience life’s most difficult challenges.

 The yearly tuition: $31,362 program/department requirements: complete 2 year

program and obtain 60 credit hours

I volunteered at a homeless shelter every Sunday for 6 months and helped serve food to the homeless

I did this because it’s sad that these homeless people can’t obtain food for themselves and the least I could do was help serve the food.
