A tour de force of cell biology and proteomics has led to a much deeper understanding of the role of the subunits that make up Complex I of the electron transport chain. Their research has the potential to help alleviate the problem of mitochondrial disease, and is the culmination of many years of hard work. And congratulations to one of our undergraduate students, Anoushka Lal, who has successfully out competed hundreds of other applicants to scoop a 'junior nobel prize' – winning the oceanic regions life sciences category in the Undergraduate Awards. In other news, in a great example of collaborative research, seven of our researchers have secured interfaculty funding from the inaurgural ScienceFBPS seed funding scheme. Best wishes, John.
