Hoping you have a GREAT day! The swim is flat! Bike ride, well, it’s “testy!” The run offers plenty of shade and wild animal viewing opportunities! In 2018, photos of panda’s, tigers, lizards, tics, and Crampasorises showed up on social media following the event!

If you are registering for the event, register online first then go to any scheduled packet pick up above to receive your packet.If you do not have a USAT card, a one day membership will be available for $15 while you register online.You must pick up your own packet. The TEXASMAN Triathlon is located at Lake Ray Roberts Johnson Branch State Park FM 3002- Exit 483Valley View, Texas 76272(7 miles East of Interstate 35)
Park officials will assist you in parking. Please follow the directions from the park rangers. VERY IMPORTANT – you will receive a race coupon with your packet and you will need to hand the gate attendant at the park this coupon for free admission. All non-athlete adults will need to pay the standard $7 for the Texas State Parks fee unless you have a yearly permit. Kids under 12 are Free!!

The awards will be three deep per age group and Athena and Clydesdale (39 and under, 40+). BODY MARKINGMake your race morning complete without waiting in line for body marking and do this BEFORE you enter the transition line!
You will need:Your assigned race bib number.
A wide tip BLACK ink Sharpie marker.
A family, friend or stranger to mark you!
Clearly mark your race number with the wide tip black ink marker on the side of your left upper arm:
and the side of your left calf:
Do not mark the back of your calf, the race number needs to be visible on the side of your arm calf for the officials.
• Make sure you have your numbers marked CLEARLY and that they are LEGIBLE.
• Each race number must be at least 2 inches talland visible.
• Mark your age and your astrological sign on either back calf. Please note, this is NOT REQUIRED.
Post-race, remove body marking with sunscreen or soap and water with a bit of scrubbing….or leave your number on all week for bragging rights.
TIMING TAG APPLICATION
Swim WavesOur open water/lake swim events the race will be started in a series of wave starts. The race will start with the Sprint distance, then the X-50 distance and finally the Olympic distance. Each of the distances will have a series of category waves by swim cap color. For safety you must wear your colored swim cap. Please make sure to start in your assigned wave or you could be disqualified. The layout of the swim course can be seen on the next page. Below is the order of the swim waves/starts with the first one starting approximately at 7:00am.

Know Your Race Courses• It is the responsibility of each competitor to know their course.• The bike course is open to traffic but will have local police present to
direct traffic. The roads have a large shoulder to ride.• On the bike, remember to pass only on the left and ride to the far right of
the lane line.• Do not follow the bike in front of you and pay attention to the course
signs as they could be doing another distance.• You may not remove your bike from transition until race officials
determine it is safe for vehicles to leave the park.• The run course is on park trails and roads and is mostly under the canopy
of trees. Please make sure to keep hydrated and run on the left side of the trail.
• Dallas Athletes Racing will take every precaution to ensure the course is marked and turn marshals are present.
• Race Numbers will be provided in your packet, a bike number to be attached with self adhesive closure and is to be placed on the top tube of
the bike and a running bib to be worn during your run on the front. If you
transport your bike on a bike rack to the park DO NOT attach your bike number to your bike before you leave for the race! The wind will blow the label away and you will need to have a new number issued prior to entering transition!
Race Day Weather
• The race will be held rain or shine. Be prepared for all weather conditions. Please note Race officials may cancel, delay or change the race to a non-scored event in case of extreme weather or other conditions that may affect the safety and health of the participants. In the event of cancellation, no refunds will be issued.

1. Bar End Plugs: All bar ends must be solidly plugged. Bikes with missing bar end plugs will NOT be allowed on the course.
2. Helmets: Only helmets approved by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) may be used in USAT sanctioned events. Helmets must be worn with the chin strap fastened at all times while on your bike. Including before, during, and after the event. Your helmet must be undamaged and unaltered.
Penalty: Disqualification
3. Chin Straps: Your chin strap must be buckled before mounting your bike and not unbuckled until you are completely dismounted. Penalty: Disqualification
4. Outside Assistance: No assistance other than that offered by race personnel, medical staff or a fellow participant may be accepted. Triathlons and duathlons are individual tests of fitness. Penalty: Variable time penalty
5. Transition Area: All equipment must be placed in the transition area in your designated position. Bike racks are marked with a number range. Use your race number to determine the proper rack. Penalty: Variable time penalty
6. Placement of Equipment: All of your equipment is placed on the side where your bike wheel touches the ground. Extra equipment and packs are not allowed in common areas. Rerack your bicycle in the same place when returning to transition. Do not interfere with another participant’s equipment or impede the progress of another participant. Penalty: Variable time penalty
7. Drafting: Drafting--keep at least three bike lengths of clear space between you and the cyclist in front. Zone is (7) meters long and two (2) meters wide surrounding each bicycle. If you move into the zone, you must pass within 15 seconds. Penalty: Variable time penalty
8. Position: keep to the right hand side of the lane of travel unless passing. Penalty: Variable time penalty
9. Blocking: riding on the left side of the lane without passing anyone and interfering with other cyclists attempting to pass. Penalty: Variable time penalty10. Overtaken: Once passed, you must immediately exit the draft zone from the rear, before attempting to pass again. Penalty: Variable time penalty

11. Entire Course: All competitors are required to follow the prescribed course and to stay within coned lanes. Cutting the course is an obvious violation and going outside the course is a safety issue. Cyclists must obey all applicable traffic laws at all times.Penalty: Referee's discretion
12. Unsportsmanlike-Like Conduct: Foul, harsh, argumentative or abusive language or other unsportsmanlike conduct directed at race officials, USA Triathlon officials, volunteers, spectators or fellow athletes is forbidden.Penalty: Disqualification
13. Audio Devices: All personal audio devices including but not limited to Headphones, headsets, cell phones, iPods etc. are not to be used or visible at any time during the race. An athlete must be off the course and not make any forward movement if talking on a cell phone or taking a picture. Penalty: Variable time penalty
14. Race numbers: All athletes must plainly display their race numbers at all times during the event. Run numbers must face the front and be clearly visible. Bike numbers may not be altered in any way. DO NOT transfer your number to any other athlete.Penalty: Variable time penalty for missing or altered number, Disqualification for a nonregistered participant.
15. Pool Swims: Participants will line up numerically by race number. Pool entry is feet first – NO DIVING. Participants can move back in the line, but may not move forward. Penalty: Variable time penalty
16. Open Water Swims: Participants must start with their designated wave. If a swim cap is issued it must be worn. Penalty: Disqualification
17. Wetsuits: Each age group participant shall be permitted to wear a wetsuit in any event sanctioned by USA Triathlon up to and including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water temperature is greater than 78 degrees but less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit, age group participants may wear a wetsuitbut will not be eligible for prizes or awards. Above 84 degrees, wetsuits are prohibited.
18. Abandonment: All personal equipment and belongings taken out onto the course must stay on the athlete the entire time. No garbage, clothing, etc. shall be thrown on the course. Penalty: Variable time penalty
