Hybrid Printer HSP7000

IntroductionTheHSP7000providesanOPOSdriverandprinterdriverstosupportvarioustypesofusage.ThisdocumentexplainshowtoinstallandusetheOPOSdrivers.Forinformationaboutusingtheprinterdriver,refertotheprinter-driversoftwaremanual.

1. Installing/UninstallingBeforeusingtheHSP7000withWindows2000,XP,orVista,youmustfirstinstalltheprinterdrivers.IfyouhavealreadyinstalledanHSP7000printerusingCD1.0,youmustfirstuninstallitbeforeproceedingwithinstallationofthedriversoftwaredescribedhere.RefertothesoftwaremanualinHSP7000CD1.0forinformationabouthowtouninstall.

Important: 1) Administratorprivilegeisrequiredtoruntheinstallation. 2) IfyouuninstallOPOSunder64-bitwindows,theUSBvendor-classdriver

willbealsoberemoved.

1.1 Installing

Important: IfyouareconnectingtotheprinterbyUSB,completethisprocedurebeforeturningtheprinteron.

InserttheincludedCD-ROMintoyourPC’sCD-ROMdrive.IfanAutorunconfirmationdialogappears,clickRunAutorun.exe.Whenthefollowingwindowappears,clickInstallation—OPOSDriver.

2. Features2.1 OPOSDriver

OPOS(OpenPointofService)isanarchitecturesupportingWin32-basedPOSaccess.ThearchitecturemakesiteasyforWindows-basedPOSsystemstoaccessPOSperipherals.TheOPOSdrivermakesiteasyfortheprinternotonlytooutputdatatoperipheralsbutalsotoreadthecurrentoperat-ingstatusofperipherals.Inaddition,thedriverenablesuseofanyofthemanyexistingOPOS-compliantapplications.

ThedriverprovidedhereconformstoOPOSVersion1.8.

2.2 StarHSP7000ConfigurationUtilityTheStarConfigurationUtilityprovidesaneasywaytosettheprinter’smemoryswitches,toregistergraphiclogos,andtomakeothersuchhardprintsettings.ItalsooffersaneasywaytosetupanEthernetinterfacecard.Also,notethatyoumaychoosetoinstalltheutilityonly,withoutalsoinstallingthedriversoftware.

ThissoftwareissupportedbyWindows2000(SP3orlater)/XP/Vista32-bitedition.TheStar Configuration Utilityallowsyoutosetavarietyofprint-relatedsettings.

OpenthePrinter Configuration Utilitydialogasfollows.

FromtheWindowsStartmenu,selectPrograms–StarMicronics–HSP7000–Utility,right-clickHSP7000 Configu-rationUtility,andthenselectRunasadministrator.

Important: IfyouareusingWindows32-bitVista,youmustselectRunasadministratorwhen opening the configuration utility. If you do not run these operations as administrator,anychangesthatyoumakemaynotworkasexpected.

3.1 PrinterSettingsUsetheprintersettingstosetthememoryswitches,setupNVlogos,carryoutprintertests,andconfiguretheEthernetinterface.

Ifyouselectanyoftheitems,thetoppartofthedialogboxwilldisplaythenameoftheconnectedprinter,thenameoftheportitisconnectedto,thecurrentemulation,andaConfigure Portbutton.Selectthemodelname,portname,andemulationaccordingtotheenvironmentused.

Important: WhenusinganEthernetinterface,theTCP/IPportwillappearinthePortlistbyclickingtheSearchLANforPrintersbuttoninEthernetI/FSetup.

PrintersettingscorrespondtousageinStarlinemodeandESC/POSmode.Selecttheemulation,andmakesettingsattheprinterside,inaccordancewiththeapplicationyouareusing.

3.1.2 NVLogoNVLogoisafunctionforregisteringimagedata,selectedfromdatapre-registeredintheImageList,totheprinterinordertoprintthemonthetoporbottomofthepage.

FordetailsaboutaddingimagedatatotheNVLogolist,referto“3.3.1ImageList”.

Important: The“NVLogoList”isalistofthedataregisteredinthecomputer. Tochecktheimagesregisteredintheprinter,clickthePrintbutton.

TheselectedgraphicdataisaddedtotheNVLogoList.Toregistermultipleimagesintheprinter,repeatsteps1and2.TodeletetheselectedimagefromtheNVLogoList,clicktheDeletebutton.

WhenyouhavemovedallgraphicdatatoregisterintotheNVLogoList,clicktheWritebutton.DatashownintheNVLogoListiswrittentotheprinter.

ClickingthePrintbuttonwillgenerateathermalprintoutofalloftheNVlogodatawrittentotheprinter.Thismakesitpossibleforyoutocheckalloftheimagedatacurrentlyregisteredintheprinter.Notethattheprintoutoflogosthatareregisteredforslipprintoutwillnotlookthesameastheydoonslips,sincetheprintdensityofthethermalprinterisdifferent.TodeletealloftheNVlogodataintheprinter,clicktheDeleteAllbutton.

ThememorycapacityforNVlogosinthisprinteris512KB.AfterclickingtheWrite,Print,orDeleteAllbutton,theprinterwillbereset.

Important: ByexecutingWrite,datashowninthe“NVLogoList”willbeoverwrittentotheNVlogomemoryoftheprinter.

Alldatapreviouslyregisteredwillbedeleted.

3.1.3 PrinterTestsPrinterTestsexecutestheprintingfunctionoftheprinterandprintsseveralsamples.Furthermore,itallowsyoutoconfirmthattheperipheralsworkproperly.

TestPrintsYoucancheckoperationofeachprinterdriver(Receipt,Slip,andValidation)byclickingthecorrespondingbutton.

IfyouclickReceipt:Teststhethermalprinterheadbyprintingseverallinesofsolidblack.

Ifwhiteverticallinesappearintheblackareaofthethermalprinterheadtestsample,pleasecleantheprinterhead.Forinformationabouthowtocleanthehead,refertothehardwaremanual.

Ifthetestsamplefromthedot-impactheadshowsmissingordefectivedots,orifcleaningofthethermalheadfailstoimprovethermalprintresults,pleasecontactyourdealerforassistance.

ThesamedialogboxaswhenclickingtheAddNewbuttonwillappear;therefore,changethesettingsusingthesameprocedureaswhentheywerefirstset.

■CheckHealth

Theprinter,cashdrawer,andMICRCheckHealthbuttonscanbeusedtorunasystemcheck.Tocheckthehealthofadevice,selectthedevicefromtheOPOSdevicelistingandclickCheckHealth.

Thefollowingdialogappears.Ifdoingaprintersystemcheck,selecttheoutputdeviceyouwishtocheckandclickCheckHealth.Thesystemcheckwilldeterminewhethertheselecteddevice(printer,cashdrawer,orMICR)iscorrectlyconnected,andwillcheckthatOPOSoperationiscorrect.

ClicktheTestPrintbuttontorunatestprintinordertochecktheprintresultsofthegraphicdatabeingadjusted.

Itemsintheoptionsaredifferentdependingontheditheringselected.Betterprintingresultscanbeobtainedbycombiningseveralsettingstoidentifywhichsettingsareappropriate.

YoucanusethissoftwareonWindows2000SP2orearlieroronWindowsVista64-bitedition.ThisapplicationallowsyoutoconfigureorconfirmprintersettingsforuseontheOPOSenvironment.

4.1 POSPrinterRegisterToconfigureanOPOSprinter,proceedasfollows.

■Windows2000SP2orEarlierFromtheWindowsStartmenu,selectPrograms—StarMicronics—OPOSRegister2008—POSPrinterRegister.

■WindowsVista64-bitEditionFromtheWindowsStartmenu,selectPrograms—StarMicronics—OPOSRegister2008,right-clickPOSPrinterRegister,andthenselectRunasadministrator.
