Fuel Pressure Regulator Install guide

STEP 1: Decide which fuel line configuration best suits your vehicle, return or return-less.

Return Setup

Tank/Pump

Displayed here is a diagram of how the fuel lines are routed when run-ning a return setup with your fuel pressure regula-tor. From the diagram you can see that the fuel pres-sure is regulated after the fuel rail meaning that fuel must be able to flow in and out of the fuel rail. If you want to run a tucked fuel line setup, this config-uration will not work.

Returnless Setup

Displayed here is a dia-gram of how the fuel lines are routed when running a returnless setup with your fuel pressure regulator. From the diagram you can see that the fuel pressure is regulated before the fuel rail meaning that there is only one line run-ning into the rail. If you want to run a tucked fuel line setup, this configura-tion is ideal.

STEP 2: Once you have decided on what fuel line configuration you want to run, it is time to set up your fuel pressure regulator with the correct fittings.

Install Guide

Return Returnless

Port A: This port is used for a vacuum line when running a rising rate setup. For every PSI of vacuum the fuel pressure will in-crease 1 PSI. If you do not wish to use ris-ing rate this port can be left open and no fitting is needed. Port B: This port is here for the use of a fuel pressure gauge, if you would like to place a gauge elsewhere you can plug the hole with the NPT plug provided with the regulator. Be sure to use fuel-safe sealant whether you use a gauge or plug in this port. Port C/D: These 2 ports are the regulated pressure ports. For ease of install or looks, these two ports can be swapped. (For ex-ample, when running a return setup the plug can be installed in either port C or port D). Port E: This port is the fuel return port and connects to the fuel return line.

Fitting Installation When installing fittings into ports C, D, and E you must make sure to do it correctly. Do not over tighten the fittings as they are ORB fittings an utilize an O-ring. On the flipside you must tighten the fittings until the O-ring seats. Illustrated below is cor-rectly installed ORB fitting, notice the one on the right the O-ring is fully seated.

STEP 3: Now with the fuel lines in place and the regulator set up with the correct fit-tings, it is time to install the regulator on to the car. You are supplied with the means to mount the regulator two different ways.

Option 1

There are (2) M6 Allen bolts provid-ed with the regulator. There are a few un-used mounting holes in the engine bay that can be used with the provided bolts. Illus-trated to the right is the fuel pressure regu-lator mounted with (1) M6 bolt. We do not recommend using just one bolt, but it will work.

Option 2

The second option is to use the (2) 1/4-20 allen bolts and the (2) rubber rivnuts to mount it anywhere with flat sheet metal. First you must mark the holes where you want to mount the regulator. Next, drill (2) 1/2 inch holes where you marked and in-sert the rubber rivnuts. Finally, line the mounting holes up on the regulator brack-et and screw in the (2) 1/4 Allen bolts as shown. Note: These pictures show the regulator mounted to a flat piece of sheet metal. They are used as a reference to show how the rivnuts work.

STEP 4: With the fuel pressure regulator installed on the car and all of the fuel lines

hooked up correctly (follow diagram on pages 2 and 3 for your configuration) it is now

time to set the pressure. When the Hybrid Racing fuel pressure regulator is assem-

bled the adjustment screw is at the lowest setting so the pressure before adjustment

will be 20-30 PSI. To increase the pressure, first back off the locking nut from the reg-

ulator to give yourself some room to turn in the adjustment screw. Then, using a 5mm

Allen wrench, turn the adjustment screw clockwise as indicated on top of the regulator

(Fig 4A). Once you have the pressure set to the desired level, hold the adjustment

screw in place with the 5mm Allen wrench and tighten the locking nut with a 17mm

wrench (Fig 4B).
