Hello from Jostens! August 2006

As another school year begins, so does another yearbook. Everyone here at Jostens islooking forward to assisting you in the creation of your book.

Since Picture Day is often one of the first assignments for the yearbook staff, we want toinform you of our updated Panel Flow requirements. The requirements are attached, andthey may also be found at www.iostens.com under the Yearbook menu, then Production andTechnology. Your photographer must follow these requirements to prepare the text file youneed for your portrait pages. Also ask your photographer to fill out the Portrait CDSubmission form.

A few tips for submitting Panel Flow pages:o Yeartech/Hand-Drawn Layout Submission

o lndicate the desired sort when the Panel Flow disk is submitted to the plant.(ie teacher or grade)

o With photo proofs, clearly mark all corrections on the proof itself. lf you don'thave enough space to write the corrections, you may do so on another sheet ofpaper and attach it to the proof. Make copies of your corrected proofs for futurereference when you design the portrait pages.

o Before you return the photo proofs to Jostens, count the number of students ineach claSs so you will know how many photo boxes to allow for each page.Design your portrait pages based on this photo count.

o The photo proof stage may be too early for you to have page numbers assignedto each grade. However, if page numbers have been assigned, please providethis information when you return the corrected proofs.

o For step-by-step instructions, refer to the Panel Flow guide found in the PanelFlow Kit within your Yearbook Kit.

. Yeartech Online Submission (YTO and MXO)o Unless othenruise specified, the standard sort in the lmage Library for preschool

through grade 5 is by teacher; grades 6-12 are sorted by grade. lf you want adifferent sort, please specify when the Panel Flow disk is submitted to Jostens.

o Carefully edit the portraits in the lmage Library as the information recordedthere flows directly onto your pages. Submitted pages often have duplicatephotos and misspelled names; these errors may be easily corrected in thelmage Library at the editing stage.

o For step-by-step instructions, refer to page 3 in the Photos and lmages chapterof the Yeartech Online lnstruction Manual. You may also view the video tutorialposted on Yearbook Avenue under the Help menu.

lf you have questions or concerns as you work with the photographer and as you design theportrait pages, please contact your in-plant Publications Consultant.

Good luck, and smile for the camera!
