Practice these pointers to reduce holiday stress:

Get your workout in. By getting 30–60 minutes of exercise each day you’ll release endorphins and improve your sleep so that you can get up each day feeling refreshed to take on the day.

Eat healthy! Eat a healthy snack before going to any holiday gatherings, and bring a healthy dish to parties or potlucks. This will keep you satisfi ed so you are less likely to go for the treats.

Take at least 15 minutes a day to just breathe. Go to a quiet place in your home, fi nd a comfortable seated position, and allow your mind to completely relax!

DANA’S PICK ✵The MTS Roller is my pick. I am excited to share this with you because it’s a great way to stimulate your collagen at home as a maintenance treatment. It compliments your home skin care regimen because it helps with the absorption of your skin care products. There is minimal downtime as it helps treat skin laxity, scars, and fi ne lines. Microneedling is now being used in the treatment of hair disorders, usually in combination with topicals like Rogaine. Microneedling improves the therapeutic effects of previous or future treatments. I can defi nitely tell when I use my roller — and others can too!

You can change the type of sunscreen you use in the winter months to adjust to your needs. You probably won’t need a water-resistant sunscreen, but you may need something more moisturizing for the face. You will want to opt for a sunscreen with an SPF 30 or higher and remember to look for broad spectrum protection. is a no-brainer. But what about those chilly overcast winter days? It turns out using sunscreen all winter long is just as imperative as those scorching summer days. As we fi ght off the cold wind we are bundled up in our warm winter gear. However, our hands, lips, and face are usually still exposed.

Here are a few reasons why winter sun protection is important. The ozone layer is thinner during the winter months. The ozone layer is part of the atmosphere that

VICKI’S PICKS ✵ If you are thinking of rejuvenating your skin before the holidays or after the New Year we have a number of options for you.

We offer the Lutronic Spectra Nd: Yag Laser for brown spots or sun spots. We are able to treat individual spots or the full face depending on your needs. During treatment you

will experience a slight snapping and a sunburn feeling. The pigment will turn dark in color and slough off in 7–10 days. Clients typically need one treatment with possibly a touch up 4–6 weeks later. This will give you a more even skin tone.

We offer the V-Beam Perfecta Laser if rosacea or small red veins are your concern. During treatment you will experience a snapping and then a sunburn feeling. You can look slightly pink for a couple of hours and the next day have slight swelling. This typically takes more than one treatment. We recommend three treatments spaced about 4-6

weeks apart. This should help with the pink appearance and rosacea fl are ups.

Fraxel Re:store Laser treats texture, tone, and maturity. This laser is a fractional resurfacing laser with little downtime. The treatment feels hot and a little stingy. You will look and feel sunburned for approximately 6–8 hours following treatment. You will be swollen 3–4 days, and then you will experience a sandpaper texture and dry fl aky skin for 4–7 days. After the fi rst seven days you will notice your skin looking smoother, with a more even skin tone. Your skin will continue to heal and improve over 6–8 weeks, with new collagen production continuing for up to six months. For best results we recommend a series of 3–4 treatments.
