Trinity Village: A Reenvisioning of La BajadaWest Dallas, Dallas, Texas
Objective: To develop a grocery-anchored mixed used development in the La Bajada neighborhood of West Dallas.Media Used: Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator AutoCAD
Project Description
Nestled along the banks of the Trinity River in the shadow of the Calatrava-designed Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, the La Bajada neighborhood of West Dallas is entering a period of revitalization. Most recently occupied by low income neighborhoods and industrial warehouses, the district is showing signs of gentrification brought about by the completion of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge and the area’s close proximity to Downtown Dallas.
One socioeconomic challenge facing the La Bajada neighborhood is its location in a food desert (defined by the USDA as an area more than one mile away from the nearest supermarket or fresh food source). As a result, residents in the area have limited access to fresh and healthy foods. As an architectural intervention, I have proposed a grocery-anchored mixed-use development to provide access to fresh and healthy foods while creating economic and social opportunities for the La Bajada neighborhood, West Dallas, and the City of Dallas as a whole.

experience nature while also giving them the security of
being close to their residential pod.
Large dining area provides a functional space for activities during the day and a destination for special meals at night
Bay windows and sitting nooks allow residents to take in the outdoors from the privacy and security of their room.
Three foot plus one foot door provides ease of use for resi-
dents while also allowing them to be transported in bed in an
emergency
Generous lounge spaces provide an ideal environ-ment for relaxation and leisure
