Pres Paul welcomed everyone to meeting 755 and invited Robert to read the

    General Business:

Relay for Life. Ian, who couldnt seem to stop himself from talking non-stop with

Terry tonight, advised that Carla got immediate action following last weeks

committee meeting and he has since been contacted by the Cancer Council, (who had studiously

been avoiding his phone calls), and we should hopefully start moving ahead positively.

Bruce advised that he had flyers and posters to hand out and that he would be doing a letter drop

    in the coming week/s

Car Raffle Tickets. Will be sold at the Markets this weekend and the car will make a guest

appearance at the markets next weekend.

Club Protocols. Pres Paul decided that seeing as Glenda was absent tonight, we would discuss the

future of Heads and Tails. There was quite a discussion in regards to how in the first instance we

would vote, as there was an amount added to our annual fees to cover the cost of purchasing a gift

for H&T. It was acknowledged that the amount did cover other things; however we need to further

discuss this at a later date. In the first instance, the question put to members was do we want to

run H&T weekly. The vote was unanimousNo. Further discussion ensued as to whether we ditch

H&T completely, and the general consensus was no, it should only be run on special occasions,

    such as Pres Pauls birthday.

Welfare Officer. David Smith had a minor stroke in the last couple of weeks. Welfare officer will

make contact and see if there is anything we can do.

If you plan on attending the Ball, please purchase you tickets.

    Farmers Market Corner:

From the Pen of Mez, Chris and Paul

In no particular order and by no particular pen.

Absolutely glorious day at the markets, we sure know how to pick them! Though Pres Paul was heard to whinge that hewas cold.

Sue Roger put in a special appearance and apparently insisted that she was NOT doing the markets and was only thereto sell raffle tickets and then proceeded to help throughout the morning. Thankyou Sue!!Mrs Hunter started off the traffic watch and was joined by Mez after about 45mins. We did the traffic together for awhile, until Pres Paul came to complain that we were both up there. Chris and Pres Paul headed off and Mez continuedwith traffic watch until 0900, when she sent a msg to Pres Paul that it was his turn. At 0915 Mez rang Pres Paul and at0925, Pres Paul finally came to do his 35min bit. And for his troubles, he ended up dog minding a 14 mth cocker spanielcalled Oakey, and was rewarded with a muffin. To his credit, he shared it with Sue, but not his fellow marketeers. Nice. There is a new stall holder, Lobby, who hired 3 tables.A family came to thank us. Their little boy lost his soft toy a couple of weeks ago, and last week at the markets, herecognised his own toy. His parents were very appreciative.Chris and Mez spent a fair amount of time plotting reorganising planning next weekend, changing confirming Terrysplans. Pres Pauls idea of building the fence around the pavers so that we dont have to cut pavers was unanimouslyagreed to as a very sensible idea by the Project Managers.Pres Paul collected the money for the tables, took the receipt book, but forgot to put the back in, so at least the stallholders have a record of their payment!PS. Mrs Hunter suggested that everyone should do a Market duty with Mez so they know how to set up the table.Mmmm. Are we having a go Mrs Hunter?????

    The Dream Team. Thankyou!!

    SGT Fines:

The fines session this week took - $52.85. Considering our small numbers, that

was pretty good. I still love Glenn Wahlert; he is the best fine fodder on the

planet as well. Now. Last week I was a little lenient with some regards their

lack of consideration to other Rotarians whilst doing their fines. You are now on

notice. I will not tolerate such behaviour again, Mr Wholohan and Mr Spencer,

regardless of how much you have put in the SGTs coffers, I will fine your butt.

    Heads and Tails:

So. Heads and Tails will no longer be run, so as of this week, we will no longer

run H&T, however, by his own admission, the Pres completely forgot all about

H&T last week, so although we are not running H&T this week, because the Pres

forgot to run H&T last week, we are running H&T this week for last week. Mez

decided that the winner would have the option of either a bottle of white wine,

or much to Pres Pauls angst, a bottle of port left over from Mrs Hunters reign.

That way, Pres Paul will have to buy a bottle of Port for the Club.

Pres Paul won heads and tails.

The Port is back in the cupboard, and apparently, it was donated by Pres Paul

Attendance Despite the fact that we only managed 61.5%, a repeat of last weeks

sad attempt at attendance, Pres Paul put out the Port, (apparently his donation) to

the old faithfuls who have been loyally coming along every week. Thanks Pres.

    *********************************************************************************************************************

    Joker:

Mmm not only does Anne think I am going to count the money each week, but she takes off and

obviously by osmosis, I am expected to run the joker for her as well. Oh dear again Anne! Joker

conducted, (lucky for Anne, thanks to Mez) and lives to see another day. This week the Joker took

    $32.00.

Okay, Mr Treas. You are in for a massive fine next week if I dont get a confirmed amount for the

Joker. My calculations put the total at $437.00. Just do it.

Mrs Hunter did her joke duty again this week and I loved it so much, I have copied below so you

    can all enjoy.

An attractive blonde from Cork, Ireland, arrived at the casino. She seemed a littleintoxicated and bet twenty thousand dollars on a single roll of the dice. She said, I hope you dont mind, but I feel much luckier when Im completeley nude. With that, she stripped from the neck down, rolled the dice and with an Irish brogueyelled, Come on, baby, Mama needs new clothes! As the dice came to a stop, she jumped up and down and squealed, Yes! Yes! I won,

I won! She hugged each of the dealers picked up her winnings and her clothes and quicklydeparted. The dealers stared at each other dumbounded. Finally, one of them asked, What did she roll? theother answered, I dont know - I thought you were watching.**************************************************************************************************************************

    OUR HISTORY

In 1998 the Rotary Clubs of Queanbeyan and Queanbeyan West Rotary decided to sponsor a new Rotary Club

based in Jerrabomberra. Bill Lilley, John Snedden and Peter Jarvis from Queanbeyan West took on the joint roll of

mentor (Peter Jarvis went on to become our Charter President).

Advertising for potential members began in March 1998. After a successful campaign, the Club was chartered on

18 November 1998 with 20 members. We are an unusual club as we have a very high proportion of female Members.

Initial meetings were held at the Jerrabomberra General Storethe venue was very good until we grew in

numbers. We then moved to the Jerrabomberra Community Centre for a few years. We now meet at the

Jerrabomberra Public School Staff Room, on Thursdays (6.15 for 6.30 pm). As at 11 Jun 2013 the Club has 27 members

11 female and 16 male. Included in this are seven married couples. We also have 4 supporters of the Rotary Club.

(Charter) President Peter Jarvis ran competitions to select a name for our Club bulletin and a design for the

    Club banner. There were some good and (very) bad suggestions. Pam Spencer suggested the winning bulletin name;

Jerraganda. The banner design by David Stevens was eventually selected. The design incorporates a goose and the

windmill associated with the original entrance to the estate.

'Always end the name of your child with a vowel, so

that when you yell the name will carry.'
