Welcome to Week 5!

Congratulations to all students who participated in the Southern Riverina Swimming Carnival on Friday. They represented their school with pride. A huge thanks to Mrs Liston and parents for supporting them through the day. Some students have made it onto the next level and will be swimming in Leeton on Wednesday 11th March.

Self-regulation project – The Discomfort Zone This week students are learning about the discomfort zone. Celebrating attendance This year we are aiming for an overall attendance of 93%. Scripture Classes

Scripture classes started last week. A huge thanks to Cathy Coe, Tania Wettern and Emma Quinn for getting our scripture classes organised for 2020. Our scripture team consists of: Cheryle Lubke, Cathy Coe, Jenny McDonald, Trish Busby and Carolyn Lieschke.

We welcome them to our school and hope that 2020 brings many happy memories of being part of the Henty Public School team.

Professional learning – Sue Larkey

Two of our staff members are heading to Wagga on Friday to strengthen their understanding of best strategies to suit the needs of students with Autism. We look forward to learning from them and trialling any new strategies that support all students to succeed.

PBL Thank you treat

Students will be heading to the pool to enjoy fun games and free time this Friday. Congratulations to all students who are attending for always displaying the values and expectations of our school. We are super proud of you!

Have a great week

Tina

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

We use the Discomfort zone to help students understand that staying in our comfort zone, whilst safe and predictable, means very little learning is taking place.

When we are learning new things or having new experiences we can feel overwhelmed but we also feel excited and interested.

Learning can be scary because we are not sure if we can do it but if we persist, we come out winners!

Being in the discomfort zone is where real growth happens.

1/2 YELLOW CLASS NEWS

1/2 Yellow have had a great start to the year. The students have been Ready To Learn and are enjoying the challenges Year 1 and Year 2 are bringing.

This Friday the class are looking forward to attending the pool for their PBL Treat and we would like to say a BIG THANK YOU for following the school values to achieve this. Please remember to bring swimmers, towel, sunscreen, hat, drink bottle and money for this day.

The students have been learning to post learning tasks onto SeeSaw so we hope you have enjoyed seeing these. If you are not connected to your child’s journal please come and see us to become connected and enjoy the journey.

This term in English we are closely looking at texts following the themes of friendship and acceptance. Below are some illustrations from the class after closely looking at how the author has drawn their characters. Students drew Pearl, from Pearl Barley and Charlie Parsley, written by Aaron Blabey. They look absolutely fantastic and if you are walking past our classroom, please come in for a look.

Home Reading and Homework has now commenced. Please remember to support your child with reading each and every day as the benefits of doing this are enormous. Homework needs to be returned each Friday and will be sent home each Monday. Also, we are asking if all children could please bring in a pair of headphones for class learning tasks.
