Kindergarten - Claire RossAll Kindergarten students will be involved in intensive swimming this week and next week. Students will walk to the pool after lunch and return at approximately 3pm. I look forward to seeing their confidence grow in the pool during their lessons.Homework this week includes; home reading, news plan and spelling activities. In writing, students have been exploring poetry with Mr Turner. They have created some poems about themselves and using their five senses. We look forward to publishing these on the computer. Please note: Kindergarten students will not be at the school assembly due to intensive swimming. All awards for students in K/1 will be handed out at the following assembly in Week 8. Have a great week.

Year 1 / Year 2Emma Byles / Sarah SheatherLast week we were treated to a variety of visits including the dentist ladies, cricket representatives from Sydney Thunder and a session about being responsible around pets. All sessions were very informative and enjoyed by all. This week intensive swimming lessons begin for most students. Please ensure your child has their towel, swimmers, hat and drink bottle to take to the pool each day. We will be eating our lunch on return to school. This week our spelling focus is er=ladder and revision of consonant blends and in maths we are investigating fractions and number patterns. A huge CONGRATULATIONS to all the children who presented their speeches to the class last week. I was very impressed!* Home Reading (10 minutes), Spelling Activities, Maths Challenges*

Year 2 / Year 3Jolonna Brand / Justin GrahamBoth Mrs Brand and Mr Graham attended Professional learning about Trauma informed practice in the early years. This learning will be valuable to bring back and share with the students and staff at school. With assessments being completed, it is a good opportunity for “second chance learning”, where our learning is directed towards areas we stll need assistance with.We also remind students that although we are halfway through the term, we are not in wind down mode and learning is still the priority in our classroom. Our 3 values of respectful, responsible and learner are still expected in our classroom.By the way it was Kilroy who stole the feast!! But he had help.....

Year 4 / Year 5 - Mary ListonThank you to Year 5 and 6 for an amazing excursion, I enjoyed every minute of it, well almost every minute! It was a lot of fun and you students were an absolute pleasure to be with. Thank you to Geoff Roulston, our bus driver and parent on call at all times. To Craig Brown, the die is cast you will have to go on every excursion now! We appreciate both men and their support and assistance over the 4 days.Home Learning went home yesterday and is not due back until Friday this week.Captains’ speeches will take on Thursday at 9.30am, good luck to all students who will present a speech to the whole school telling us about themselves and why they believe they will make a great school leader.

Year 5 / Year 6 - Joanne MalmoIt is without doubt that our excursion was a huge success for all involved. Each of the venues we visited provided the students and staff with fabulous history lessons and unforgettable experiences. The success of the excursion was due to the involvement of all the students and their willingness to participate fully in all of the experiences. A special thank you to Craig Brown for his support and assistance last week, some students will never forget his very own ‘sound and light show’ and his talent on the handball court! Geoff Roulston looked after us superbly and made himself available when extra adult assistance was required. Mrs Liston, once again, organised the excursion with ease and ensured that we all made the most of our time away. Despite the fact that we were cruising along the Hume Freeway at 11am on Remembrance Day, the students still showed their utmost respect and joined Australia in a minutes silence at the appropriate time. This week we are back into the swing of learning in the classroom with some follow-up activities from last week. We are also tying up loose ends from our science investigation and we’ll begin learning about farm and house safety. The Year 5 students are invited to present their captain speech on Thursday at 9:30am, family and friends are welcome to attend. Immediately following the speeches (approx. 10:30), the Year 5/6 students will hold an exhibition in our classroom displaying their recently completed gold rush projects, please make some time to view these amazing creations.
