Language:

A large image of the band is used to make the

reader want to read the magazine as this could

be a band they really like or just find reading

about celebrities interesting. The shot is a mid

shot showing the top half of the bands body

and head.

The colours of red, black and white are

contrasting colours that work really well and are

associated with the rock/metal genre.

The stories that are featured are all about

bands in the same genre as the magazine such

as My Chemical Romance and interviews with

the band members. As the magazine is all

about the metal/rock music scene the

interviews fit well.

The page layout is quite crowded and “loud”

so the page layout Is a connotation of the

music as most rock/metal music is loud music

The ideology promotes thevalues and beliefs such as theybelieve its ok to be different, for example on this issue the bandare all dressed in different wayswith different colour hair

therefore showing the audienceits ok to be different.

The ideology is also rebelliousbecause colouring your hair bright colours, men with longhair, tattoos and piercings areseen as bad and not seen as asocial norm therefore rebellious.

Language:

The images used show the reader who the article is about and in thiscase a band called My Chemical Romance (MCR). Some conventionsof the double page spread are; a drop cap, stand first and the main titleis a pull quote that is presented over the 2 pages to show that bothpages are the same article as the title links both pages together. The colour scheme is red, white and black sticking to a 3 colour systemtherefore not making the page look confusing with lots of differentcolours. The layout of the page is orderly and the text in the main part of thearticle is in columns looking neat and tidy again not confusing the

reader.

Representation:

The magazine represents the band as interesting because the band isthe main article in the magazine, also the band is represented aspassionate because of the pictures the editor used showing themperform. The back and white editing creates an alluring effect on the

reader because the writing is bright. The denotation is that some of the writing is red and the connotationsof the colour red is passion and danger showing that the band ispassionate and you can see that on the faces of some of themembers in the pictures of them performing yet dangerous becausethey are rebellious with their long hair, tattoos and piercings.
