P&C Dinner

P&C enjoyed a relaxed dinner last Wednesday. It was an enjoyable way to celebrate P&C‟s efforts this year. Don‟t forget

we have the final P&C meeting for the year this evening from 6.00pm in the staffroom.

The Green Team

On Monday, Kael and Juanita travelled to Dorroughby Field Study Centre to participate in environmentally-based activities

as part of the Green Team. They have been working with Christine, Principal of Dorroughby FSC to implement sustainable

practices. We look forward to learning about sustainability from Kael and Juanita here at Lismore Public School.

Senior Excursions

Thank you to the staff who put in so much work to make last week‟s Stage 3 excursions so successful. Students enjoyed

visiting Canberra, while those who remained at school enjoyed kayaking and canoeing at Shaws Bay. Behaviour of these

students was of a very high standard.

Friday Assembly

This week we have the Primary Sports Assembly from 11.40am in the hall, so there will be no whole school assembly. It is

the last day for handing out white awards and medallions, so students will receive these at afternoon muster from 3.00pm

prior to dismissal.

Well Done Choir!

Our senior choir performed at the RSL‟s opening of Fromelle‟s Manor last Friday. Under

Mrs Berry‟s guidance, the students sang „I am Australian‟ and led the national anthem.

They were outstanding ambassadors for Lismore Public School.

School Resumption Date

Please note that school recommences for Year 1-6 students on Wednesday 30th January

– not the 29th as we had advertised in last week‟s newsletter.

Welcome Beverly Close

Beverly Close commenced today as our part-time School Administrative Officer. Beverly will be working two days a week

in the office.

End of Year Activities

It‟s hard to believe that we only have one week of school to go. There are still many activities as we finish 2012. Thursday

evening we have Carols by Candlelight from 6pm till 8pm. Reports will be sent home on Friday – parents/carers are

welcome to make an appointment to discuss their child‟s progress with their class teachers. On Tuesday we have the

Presentation Day at Southern Cross University from 9.30am till 10.45am. Tuesday evening we have the Year 6 Farewell at

the Zest Function Room at the uni. Class parties will be next Wednesday.

Martin Gill, Principal Library The library stocktake and re-organisation is almost complete. It is looking fresh and inviting and will be ready for the new school year. Thank you all for your patience. Reminder: Please return all outstanding books, overdue notices for the books will be issued this week. The notice will be accompanied with an account. If you are unable to find your book the account must be paid to the school office. Thank you.

We thank you for your patience during the change over of the new school uniform. They look great and we are seeing more and more of the new style.

Due to the sizing of the uniforms we do not have size 4. They are a very small make and size 6 is the smallest we can get.

For the bigger sizes we have had to order in Adult size S and M for School Shirts due to the sizing the cost of the-se bigger shirts is a little bit more. These big shirts will be $20:00 each.

We need volunteers in our school Canteen! The P & C Association would like to offer a free ticket in the Christmas Raffle to each person who volunteers their time (even if you can only spare one hour) for every day you volunteer in the Canteen. Contact the Canteen to register the days you can assist. There are some amazing prizes to win which you will hear about soon. We look forward to seeing you there! Thank you Mel Bowman, P & C President

Lismore Public School – A Thinking School in 2013

Lismore Public School students have successfully engaged with our Positive Behaviour Learning.

2013 is exciting as we continue PBL in the social domain but extend our PBL into the academic as Peer Based Learning.

A collection of brains and thoughts to share and engage in thinking to learn!

We have our sports assembly and our

school presentation day assembly coming

up and it is very important students remem-

ber the school rules regarding assembly.

Please go through these rules with your

child as they are being revised at school this

week.
