Changes to exam structureWhat % assesses practical skills?

• Minimum of 15% (Biology, Chemistry and Physics)What % assesses mathematical content?

• Minimum of 10% (Biology), 20% (Chemistry), 40% (Physics)Why multiple choice?

• A chance to assess a larger range of contentWhy extended response ?

• Not essays, not focused on QWC of specific terminology, more about ‘logical, coherent, sustained responses’. Some will be marked using Level of Response mark schemes. Have been used in ALL GCSE Science papers since 2011.
