71 Years

On April 9

Meet Debbie - Grandmother and recent graduate of the New Life Addiction Treatment Program

What was your childhood like? Debbie says, “I grew up in an abusive home. I began using marijuana with my friends when I was 10 years

old and then my drug use progressed to using methamphetamines and ulti-mately heroin. I tried many times to become drug free, but was unsuccessful.

Before I came into the Mission I was enrolled in my 2nd quarter at Heald College and living with my daughter and her children. I was using metham-phetamines at the time, thinking it would help me to keep up with my busy life. Then I began using heroin again along with methamphetamines. My life began to get too stressful and I was really depressed. I just wanted to give up on life.

How did you hear about the Mission?

My other daughter (who was enrolled in the New Life Addiction Treatment Program with her daughter) told me, “Mom, just come in. There is a bed for you. Please just come in. It’s a Christian based program.” I dropped every-thing and came in.

What do you like most about the New Life Addiction Program? The fact that it is Christian-based. They welcomed me with open arms, even though they knew my history with drug use. They never made me feel ashamed. The classes have taught me why I used drugs and how to live a happy and clean life with God.

What are your future goals? I plan to return to Heald College and get my AA degree in IT Tech - I’d like to be able to program computers. I also plan to continue serving at my local church that I became a member of while here. I am grateful for this program that has helped my family to find God together - we are very close now.

GCRMS 2011 Pledge Form

As ministry partners and faithful donors, we wanted to let you know that the Mission Board reviews the Mission budget each month. Currently we are experiencing a 33% drop in total income from January through February 2011- as compared to these same months from 2010.

As this information is cause for great concern, we are trusting that God will provide the needed funds - so that we can continue to provide the same level and quality of shelter, food, clothing, hygiene items, showers, counseling and education to the homeless men, women and children here at the Mission.

We thank you for your continued giving and ask that any additional gifts you can give would be greatly appreciated. Please also keep the Mission finances in your prayers.

We thank you again for your support of the Mission’s work of “rescue” as we celebrate 71 years of “Impacting the Lives of the Homeless & Addicted” next month!

Please feel free to call me at (209) 320-2314 should you have any questions.

Sincerely, William R “Bill” Brown, CEO
