WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO JOIN THE

SEMINARY?

My faith became very important

during my time in college at Iowa State.

I spent a lot of time in prayer, asking

God what he wanted of me. I was

invited to consider the priesthood and

join a discernment group, where I met

other men seeking God’s plan in their

lives. I learned that it was not so much

what God wanted from me, but what

God wanted for me. After much prayer

and a few experiences of consolation, I applied for

seminary and felt a great sense of peace.

WHAT IS THE MOST SPECIAL MEMORY FROM YOUR

DEACONATE ORDINATION?

Receiving the laying on of hands from the Archbishop

and feeling the warmth of the Holy Spirit.

Mi fe se hizo muy importante

durante mi tiempo en la universidad en

el estado de Iowa. Pasé mucho tiempo

en oración, preguntándole a Dios qué

quería de mí. Fui invitado a considerar

el sacerdocio y unirme a un grupo de

discernimiento, donde conocí a otros

hombres que buscaban el plan de Dios

en sus vidas. Aprendí que no se trataba

lo que Dios quería de mí, sino lo que

Dios quería para mí. Después de mucha oración y

algunas experiencias de consuelo, hice mi solicitud

para ingresar al seminario y sentí una gran paz.

Second Reading │ 1 COR 12:3B-7, 12-13 Brothers and sisters: No one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit. As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we were all given to drink of one Spirit. The word the Lord. Thanks be to God.

benefit.” Which gifts/talents have you been given by God and how do you use these gifts/talents to serve

others?

+ In today’s gospel, Jesus greets his disciples by offering them peace. How do you strive to bring Christ’s peace to

those you greet each day?

Creed I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. Segunda lectura │ 1 CORINTIOS 12, 3b-7. 12-13 Hermanos: Nadie puede llamar a Jesús "Señor", si no es bajo la acción del Espíritu Santo. Hay diferentes dones, pero el Espíritu es el mismo. Hay diferentes servicios, pero el Señor es el mismo. Hay diferentes actividades, pero Dios, que hace todo en todos, es el mismo. En cada uno se manifiesta el Espíritu para el bien común. Porque así como el cuerpo es uno y tiene muchos miembros y todos ellos, a pesar de ser muchos, forman un solo cuerpo, así también es Cristo. Porque todos nosotros, seamos judíos o no judíos, esclavos o libres, hemos sido bautizados en un mismo Espíritu para formar un solo cuerpo, y a todos se nos ha dado a beber del mismo Espíritu. Secuencia Evangelio │ JUAN 20, 19-23 Al anochecer del día de la resurrección, estando cerradas las puertas de la casa donde se hallaban los discípulos, por miedo a los judíos, se presentó Jesús en medio de ellos y les dijo: "La paz esté con ustedes". Dicho esto, les mostró las manos y el costado. Cuando los discípulos vieron al Señor, se llenaron de alegría. De nuevo les dijo Jesús: "La paz esté con ustedes. Como el Padre me ha enviado, así también los envío yo". Después de decir esto, sopló sobre ellos y les dijo: "Reciban el Espíritu Santo. Preguntas para tu reflexión: + ¿Cuáles palabras y frases son las más importantes para ti? ¿Por qué? + En la segunda lectura, San Pablo escribe: "A cada individuo se le da la manifestación del Espíritu para algún beneficio". ¿Qué dones/talentos le ha dado Dios y cómo utiliza estos dones/talentos para servir a los demás? + En el evangelio de hoy, Jesús saluda a sus discípulos ofreciéndoles paz. ¿Cómo se esfuerza por llevar la paz de Cristo a quienes saluda cada día? Credo Creo en un solo Dios Padre todopoderoso, Creador del cielo y de la tierra, de todo lo visible y lo invisible.
